B&W 685 Theatre review

Best traditional package £1000-£1500, Awards 2010. A smooth effortless sound, that still packs in detail and excitement, while remaining nonchalantly

Looks good ; sounds detailed, dynamic and involving with surround sound and stereo

The speakers are on the big side ; don’t expect house-shaking bass weight

Best traditional package £1000-£1500, Awards 2010. It’s always a pleasure to hear this system at work: a worthy Award-winner

B&W 685

There are more talented rivals on the scene, but the veterans are enduring greats

Big, coherent soundstage ; impressive dynamic ability ; boundless drive and attack

Treble could be better integrated ; Very tough new competition

B&W 685

The B&W 685 is the company's latest budget-level loudspeaker and uses some of the technologies developed for the flagship 800 series.

Outlook We look forward to testing the new series. In the past, the distinctive B&W tweeter has been too bright for some, so it will be interesting to see if there is indeed the leap in quality the company claims. Look out for the 685 Theatre, which...

B&W 685

Near the 600 Euro price level, B&Ws 685 is hard to beat. Its 16cm Kevlar mid-woofer features a profiled cast basket, and thanks to B&Ws latest aluminium tweeter with a small neodymium magnet, the two drive units can be located much closer together,...

B&W 685 Bookshelf Speakers

These B&W speakers are perfect for smaller rooms! They provide full sound spectrum mixed with accurate harmony mid-range. They fully amplify an 85 watt (Cambridge audio) receiver and make it sound like 200 watts. A complete bargain for $650.00 and...

B&W 685 Bookshelf Speakers

B&W does their homework. These are great speakers for the price - and size! I also have a pair of DM303's, which appear to have a similar tweeter. I'm sure it's been updated. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as the old saying goes. Does anyone know if...

B&W 685 Bookshelf Speakers

Have owned and really loved listening to a pair each of B&W 805 Matrix S2's and 602 S2's (year 2000). I know the traditional hallmarks of B&W sound: imaging, balance, clarity, and omission of sins. I *enjoyed* those speakers.
