B&W PV1

B&W'S PV1 subwoofer has been created with style in mind — it's a far cry from the squat, square boxes that are so common — but doesn't suf...

Powerful, incredible low-frequency kick, compact, great styling

Not as versatile as we would have liked for movies

Even though it’s clearly an exercise in contemporary styling, the PV1 is a great sub for music listeners. It's not as fantastic if you watch movies, but it still does an exemplary job.

As it happens, Jacques Cousteau is one of my all time heroes, right up there with the awesome Mr Ray Dolby. Where one was the father of self-contained underwater breathing apparatus and all things marine, the other remains...

B&W says balls to subwoofers. Literally – no, look, it's a spherical sub. See? And you thought… how rude.

A remarkable subwoofer in every sense, the PV1 has to be taken very seriously.

B&W PV1 Review - Home Audio

b&w pv1 review: While the B&W PV1 could be described as a "style" subwoofer, it doesn't compromise on sound quality. Good for movies, great with music.

Grunty yet controlled sound, Compact size, Great styling

Terrible manual, Only moderately less successful with movies

While the B&W PV1 could be described as a "style" subwoofer, it doesn't compromise on sound quality. Good for movies, great with music.

B&W PV1 active subwoofer

There are many subwoofers which take the look of a very plain, square box. They?re designed to be tucked out of sight, relying on the non-directional nature of bass frequencies to fill a room, without the need for the speaker to be on display...

Compact size, unique look, low bass extension for its size and terrifically controlled sound ;

Pricey for a mini sub

You'll want to find a good spot for it and leave it there, as its 20.5kg bulk combined with its smooth and generally even bowling ball-sized aluminium alloy enclosure makes it difficult to move around, unless you're feeling cavalier enough to roll it,...
