Bose 301 Bookshelf Speakers Reviewed

The sound of the 301 Bookshelf Speakers sounds big and the "seemingly good sensitivity" does a good job with background music and casual listening." Overall, they have "big sound and wide dispersion" despite having a "relatively small footprint." It...

The 301s throw very big sound with wide dispersion, which is pleasing to the listener ; The 301s fit into many different decors, and come in Light Cherry or Black. These aren't the largest amount of finishes, but the ones they have are pretty good

The Bose 301s offer sound lacking in focus and detail, as compared to more audiophile speakers in their price category ; The soundstage smears and the overall sonic picture lacks coherence, musicality and palpability when compared directly with the...

The Bose 301 provides big, expansive sound within a relatively small footprint, and fits into many space-conscious home environments. However, its sonic properties lack the raw frequency response, dynamics, imaging and soundstaging necessary for...

Bose 301 - Not Such Bad Speakers

I'm not a big "speaker person" but I do know what my ears tell me. The Bose 301's are a good value and I like the spatial (large) sound they produce. Each music recording is different as far as sound produced goes (obviously), and you can really tell...

Relatively small ; Great sound when placed correctly

Kind of cheap looking and feeling (light weight) ; Need to work with them a little to find one's sweet spot for the room

Better than most Bose lineup

I have owned the Bose 301 series V for four years now. I also own their 601 IV, and a pair of 161's for rears in a 7.1 HT setup. I am currently using the Bose VC10 piece of crap center channel. I used to have the 601's as my main front speakers simply...

Great room filling sound, Able to be powered with decent wattage

Not enough bass, loose bass not punchy

Meets my expectations

I needed to replace my front speakers as part of my Home Theater System. I finally decided to retire my 1970's vintage EPI units. The location for these new speakers- as before - is near the ceiling, sitting above the the top book case ledge in the...

I love these speakers

I have had the speakers for a little over a year. I bought these nearly new on Ebay along with the stands. I connect them to my Dennon receiver and CD player in my bed room. At age 51, I have listened to a lot of stereos and speakers over the years....

Great sound with out a lot of eq. necessary

A great set of speakers for Home theatre or Music

Although the price is somewhat steep for two louspeakers, i have purchased four of them for my home theatre and i must admit, i have never heard movies sound so good. These speakers do an exemplary job of giving out full, rich sound.

Good sound, rich bass, and clarity

Kind of Expensive

Great to mw

for me, replacing the little 2-speaker mini stock speakers with Bose 301 V is a big step up for me. There may come a time where I'll be able to upgrade from these but I don't see it happening anytime soon.Bottom line: I'm happy.

Price, name brand, size, construction

Only what I hear from others

Product Specifications

Compare Bose 301 speakers against other bookshelf systems, and you'll understand why this is one of the world's best-selling speakers. These versatile and elegant speakers are ideal for movies, music and more. Advancing a long-standing tradition of high-quality audio, 301 speakers feature Bose proprietary Direct/Reflecting speaker technology to re-create lifelike, spacious sound. You enjoy a natural balance of reflected and direct sound for a listening experience most conventional speakers cannot match. Music sounds similar to what you'd hear at a concert, while movie sound effects resonate much the way they do at the theater. The 301 speakers fit practically anywhere - living room, bedroom, wherever you'd like. Acoustically and visually, they match other Bose speakers for seamless sound and styling. If you're thinking about component home theater arrangements, they can serve as front speakers with Bose's VCS-10 center channel speaker and 201 or 161 speakers for surround sound. Or use 301 speakers as rear surround speakers with a VCS-10 center channel and 701 or 601 speakers up front. With so many options at your disposal, these little wonder Bose 301 speakers are soundly above all others in their class. Most conventional speakers radiate sound directly into the room, sending balanced stereo sound to one small "sweet spot." The 301 speaker system is designed to deliver Stereo Everywhere speaker performance. You can sit just about anywhere in the room and still enjoy balanced stereo sound. Direct/Reflecting and Stereo Targeting tweeters provide mid to high frequencies over a wide, stable area between the speakers. And 8-inch woofers in each speaker enable smooth reproduction of deep, low notes, even at high volumes. You want to hear the full spectrum of audio, and this speaker delivers. The 301 speakers also feature a host of accessories for many placement options, and streamlined styling to complement your room design.
