Paradigm MilleniaOne Speaker System

Paradigm has a great reputation for sound but they also have a reputation for price. The satellites are not overly expensive at $499 for a pair or $1249 for a 5.0 set (the per speaker price is listed at $249 but you can only buy them in sets). The...

WHARFEDALE JADE 1

The Jade 1 bookshelf speaker from venerable manufacturer Wharfedale at $1,199 is an achievement that is difficult to put into words, except to say it's brilliant. While not perfect - what speaker is? - or without its quirks, the Jade 1 is still a...

Emotiva X-Ref 12 Subwoofer

The Emotiva X-Ref 12 is a compact sub that offers clean, tight bass, and a DSP-controller that is a tweaker's delight. It does not advertise itself as an ultra-low frequency output sub, but for a moderately sized room the X-Ref 12 will provide plenty...

Sony SS-CEP707 Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)

The Sony ss-cep707 are stereo miniature bookshelf speakers, measuring approximately 25cm (high) by 17cm (wide) by 17cm (deep), in a ported, mainly wood enclosure. This model was usually supplied as part of a packaged Sony micro system, and hence they...

Acoustic Audio HDS10

When installing this sub, I broke one of the mounting tabs (cheap plastic), and one of the screws pulled through the hole in the frame. I used a washer to fix the screw that pulled through, then just installed it with three of the four mounting screws....

Cerwin-Vega! CMX-5.1

With a reputation of making large and powerful loudspeakers, I was surprised how small the CMX 5.1 system was when it arrived at my door. Opening the box, I found five small center and satellite speakers, and a compact, but a decent size subwoofer.

Mesa Boogie [Rectifier Series] Trem-o-Verb Combo

This amp proofed to be super reliable and roadworthy. The only issues I had in 20 years was a bad reverb pan, and a blown screen resistor because of a power tube failure. I should also mention that...

Polk Audio TSi500

These are very average floor standing speakers and are more than bested by the Polk RTi line of floor standing speakers in both build quality and sound.

Pyle Audio PHA40

Previous reviewer doesn't know what headphone amplifiers do. It's not an EQ, it's simply increasing the power of the signal sent to the headphones - 'turn up the volume' is what that means, it won't do any additional modification or processing of the...

Boss PHANTOM SKULL SK422

Neutral sound, with poor sensitivity, nowhere near the 90 db claimed, and distorts upon receiving anything over 50 watts, but the lights are cool. Use a x-over cap or "bass blocker" to reduce distortion.

Behringer Eurolive B212D 550 Watt 2-Way Active PA Speaker System with 12 inch...

I have owned a pair of these speakers for more than 3 years. My band uses these 1-2 times a week faithfully in rooms of all sizes. They have been accidentally abused (fallen off of hand trucks/carts when being moved several times each). They may look a...

S-IW631-LR In-Wall Speaker

I am using these speakers in my home theater. They work pretty well, but I am not an audiophile. For the money I paid for them, I think they are the best value around. I use them for movies, music, and video games, and have not missed anything.

Acoustic Research AR 312 HO

These rather large towers are very efficient and need little power to drive. The sound is warm and engaging yet quite dynamic. I have run them for years without wanting or believing I needed a subwoofer. Very under rated speakers for their time.
