Definitive Technology BP 30

I picked up a pair of these in pristine condition for a song recently at a tag sale, and tragically dropped one of the high gloss top caps while putting them in the car (awkward to move and awkward to wire up due to fabric sleeve covering all sides of...

sound great, look great, tall but narrow shape and black fabric exterior make them blend well with my fairly typical wide screen/stereo rack "wall

Fabric cover is slippy-slidy to handle, and wiring on the bottom of the speaker is a true hassle, especially in a difficult to reach space. Oh, and tops come off easily, a defect if you don't know it and drop one. I've hidden the flaw (tiny) in a rear...

These BP30 speakers replaced the BP10 front speakers in my hometheater system. MY BP10 speakers are the original model with the fabric tweeter. The BP30 has more extended highs, better soundstage and superior low frequency response. The BP30 blends...

Excellent performance in home theater and very good in stereo. Small footprint, but very stable with the side extensions added. Even better value when purchased used. Excellent customer service from Definitive Technology

The gloss black caps are attractive, but are susceptible to scratches. Fortunately, these can be replaced if necessary

I absolutely love these speakers. They are elegant, detailed and play clean at high volumes. They major key in revealing their true potential is placement and power. They love power. I am pumping a 1000w of Krell into each of them and they never...

If you're into relentless bass, razor sharp highs, concert sound pressure levels, a three dimensional soundstage and pissing off snobby audiophiles these speakers are for you

If one tips over on your cat he would have just used all nine of his lives

i purchased the bp30's after experimenting with vandersteen 2Ce's, paradigm monitor 7's, bose 701's, jbl, and polk. since purchasing the bp-30's, i have mixed feeling about them. as far as home theater, they perform very well. however, listening to...

Good for home theater, high-powered amplifiers, and large rooms. good customer service

bi-polar design may not be suitable for music lovers, especially if the room is too small. difficult to place in some areas, as they need to be, in my opinion, about 24"-30" away from the back wall

These speakers are incredible, the bass is tight, deep and low, the highs are crystal clear, and last but not least, I've never heard better midrange from similar priced high end speakers. I have compared them with speakers cost 2x more such as the B&W...

Neutral sounding speakers, deep, tight, clear bass with crystal highs and liquid midrange

With bi-polar in general, you need to pay attention to setup, etc

Absolutely superb soundstaging, smooth transitions, and full, rich and dynamic, airy feel to the music. Where these speakers really excel, is in home theater; absolutely the best.

Can I say, my favorite time of the day is the two hours I do nothing else besides listen to music in stereo mode. Falwless

Must hook up correctly to get the maximum performance out of these fine speakers; as is the case with all high end audio

I've had DefTech for several years now and upgraded to these from the BP8 when I bought an Aragon 7 channel amp and Proceed AVP2 Pre/Pro. For Home Theater I don't think they can be beat at any price in most rooms. For music I had a boomy bass problem...

Enveloping soundstage, Unmatched highs (for my taste), separation of details, price/performance ratio

Can't be placed too close to the front wall

Enjoyed Vandersteen 3A's. They just didn't do it in the room. 30*13. Purchased a pair of 3000tl. the BASS just blew me away, not to mention the the hair off my cat.

Product Specifications

Definitive Technology's Bipolar Towers are revolutionary audiophile engineered, designer styled loudspeakers intended for musical reproduction and home theater systems of the highest quality. These full-range bipolar (front and rear) radiating systems combine the lush spacious soundstaging, lifelike depth-of-field, razor-sharp resolution and pinpoint imaging of the finest dipolar panel loudspeakers with the extended bass response, high-efficiency, wide dynamic range and easy-to-position convenience of the best conventional box systems. Definitive's BP 30 utilizes all the technology incorporated in the BP 10B and combines it with virtual point source coincidentally radiating, symmetrically concentric driver arrays. Each BP 30 incorporates four 17 cm bass/midrange drivers which are arrayed on the front and rear baffles in two concentric pairs, each surrounding a pure aluminum dome tweeter. Each pair of bass/midrange drivers creates a virtual point source radiating from a position midway between them, which is coincident with the tweeter location. This symmetrically concentric (or D'Appolito) point source mounting results in further improvements in the areas of driver blending, depth retrieval, lateral imaging and dispersion. Additionally, the use of four bass/midrange drivers extends the bass response below 20 Hz (superior to most subwoofers) with power handling capability exceeding 500 watts. The BP 30 incorporates provisions for bi-amping or bi-wiring.
