Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder

Definitive Technology is known for its audiophile-grade loudspeakers. But now it's dipped into the mainstream market with its first wireless Bluetooth speaker, the $199 Sound Cylinder.

The Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder is a sleek and compact wireless Bluetooth speaker that converts from a standalone speaker to a stand for just about any tablet. It has good build quality and delivers decent sound for its size.

Fairly pricey; no speakerphone capabilities.

The Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder is a versatile and compact portable Bluetooth speaker that also converts into a stand for just about any tablet -- but it's priced a little high for its sound quality.

Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder Review

If you've ever used your smartphone's built-in speakers for listening to music, or relied on your tablet's speakers for watching your favorite show on Netflix, you already know what we're about to tell you: The speakers built into mobile devices sound...

Excellent value ; Solid build, innovative design ; Crisp, transparent sound, even at high volume ; 10+ hours battery life per charge ; Rugged and portable

Bass gets a tad wooly at high volumes ; High clamping force may put undue pressure on laptop screens ; Clamp may cover a small portion of laptop screens

Compact, portable, rugged and powerful, the Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder is everything we could want in a hybrid speaker/tablet stand.

Good Bang for the Buck

Caught this on sale and paid half of the normal cost, so I feel like I've got a real bargain. The sound quality is good, not great, but good enough to make this a solid contender amongst the Bluetooth speaker competition. Had an issue where my phone's...

Good sound & value.

Sound quality is excellent, comes with a little travel bag that will also fit a few of the included cords (USB charger cord, 3.5mm Male to Male plug). Don't be fooled by people that are dogging the sound this puts out. Good volume level (appreciate the...

Big sound from a little tube

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my wife. She has been through several iPod / iPhone / iPad external speakers. This one tops them all. Big sound, rich sound. Loud and does not distort. Bluetooth is great feature, no wires to connect. Battery lasts a...

Excellent alternative to built in speakers

I purchased this to go with my iPad Air, I have Jawbone Jambox and various other Bluetooth speakers as well so I have pretty vast experience with items such as this. This speaker by far blows them all away for size, price and performance. The...

Don't buy!

Don't waste your money. This unit has no bass or midrange response. JBL Charge and others sound far better for less money.
