JBL OnBeat Micro

One of the big beefs people have with all of Apple's latest 2012 releases -- including the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, fourth-gen iPad, and most new iPods -- is that the company switched from the tried and true 30-pin dock connector to the new Lightning...

The JBL OnBeat Micro is a compact speaker dock for Lightning-based iPhones and iPods. It delivers very good sound for its small size, and has a USB port for charging other mobile devices (and playing audio from them) and an auxiliary input for...

You'll have to remove everything but the slimmest cases in order to dock your device; you only get about 5 hours of power from four AAA batteries; you can't play music from the docked device while a second one is charging via USB.

Offering surprisingly decent sound for its small size, the JBL OnBeat Micro makes for a good little desktop or bedside speaker and charging station for iPhone 5 owners.

JBL OnBeat Micro

The JBL OnBeat Micro is a small speaker designed to take up very little surface space on your bedside table or kitchen counter. Beyond that, it's the first speaker dock we've tested to feature the new Apple Lightning connector, compatible with the...

Produces surprisingly robust audio for its size. Docks new Apple iOS Lightning connection devices. Small, desk- and counter-friendly design. Affordable. Portable

Only docks iOS devices with Lightning connection. No adapter included for 30-pin iOS devices. Some distortion at top volumes. No remote control

For a reasonable price, the Lightning connection-friendly JBL OnBeat Micro speaker dock delivers more audio power than you might expect from its diminutive frame.

JBL OnBeat Micro Lightning Speaker and Dock for iPhone 5 Review

We're ecstatic to finally have an iPhone 5 charger that doesn't leave our device laying on a surface. Considering this is just round one of speaker docks, we're extremely satisfied and impressed with the JBL OnBeat. Even though the audio quality is not...

JBL OnBeat Micro Review

A portable speaker that falls a bit short.

First Lightning dock on the market, clean design

No Bluetooth or AirPlay, average performance, no rechargeable battery

If you’re really desperate for a Lightning speaker dock, then certainly the JBL OnBeat Micro will satisfy your cravings. But what you get in the end is a mid-sized speaker that sadly won’t impress you too much. Throw in the fact that you’ve got only...

JBL OnBeat Micro Review

Reviews: JBL OnBeat Micro

Though the product name is new, OnBeat Micro is actually a resculpted version of On Stage Micro, a small portable system that changed from a circular dish to a weave-styled version across three iterations, all retaining the same $100 price and basic...

Other tweaks are worth noting, too. On a positive note, JBL’s new power and volume buttons are both tactile and obviously mounted in front of the dock, making it easier to turn on the system and change the amplitude at will. JBL has also redesigned the...

Love the size and ease of using this product. Disappointed in the sound. It sounds good but not exceptional. I also purchased another brand and the sound is exceptional for the same price.
