Klipsch HD Theater 500

If you're putting together a home theater on a budget, the first options that probably come to mind are sound bars and home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems, but that's too bad. Budget 5.1 speaker systems like the Klipsch HD Theater 500 are available...

The Klipsch HD Theater 500 is a compact surround-sound speaker system with four small two-way satellites, a center channel, and a 100-watt, 8-inch powered subwoofer. It can often be found online for less than $500 and sounds much better than a sound...

While the HD Theater 500 sounds much better than a sound bar, its sound quality is a step behind other budget speaker packages. Also, its speakers' wire spring-clip connectors feel cheap and aren't as secure as we'd like

The Klipsch HD Theater 500 is a stylish and compact 5.1 speaker system, but better-sounding systems are available at this price.

Klipsch HD Theater 500 (HDT500)

Situated in the middle of Klipsch's affordable HD Theater line, the HDT500 offers a healthy serving of bang-for-your-buck performance. With impressive midrange, well-balanced highs and a capable sub in a tight little package for under $600, this system...

Attractive satellites ; surprising balance of sound ; mounting hardware included

Poor wire connections ; sub may not perform well in larger or open rooms

Klipsch stays true to its legacy by offering us a package that delivers engaging home theater and a satisfying music experience.

Klipsch HD Theater 500

Your meal plans may be more Top Ramen than Top Chef these days, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice dinner music too. Klipsch understands. The high end audio company is now offering three "recession-proof" speaker sets that can deliver top...

Sparkling 5.1-surround sound for small(ish) spaces. Spartan aesthetic also looks slick. Easy, breezy setup

Not an experienced audiophile? Tweaking the subwoofer can be more taxing than a severe IRS audit. $600 is kind of a lot, even though it's Klipsch

Klipsch HD Theater 500 Speaker System

There are stories we tell over and over again because they never lose their power to teach us something. For example, the story of “The Three Little Pigs” and the big bad wolf teaches us not to risk our survival on houses made of straw or sticks. If...

Klipsch HD Theater 500

We recommend the Klipsch HD Theater 500 for a great combination of durability, sound quality and smart design. If you treat them right, these speakers will wow you for a long time. They may not produce audiophile-quality music, but for home theater...

The subwoofer included in this home theater speaker set produces strong, even bass

Low-quality spring clip connectors take the place of 5-way binding posts

These speakers will live a long time and produce great sound along the way, but don't expect audiophile performance.

Klipsch HD Theater 500 (HDT500) Review

Superb design and clarity of sound is excellent. Only cons is high prize in India. Performance wise, can not compare with any other model. Best product from KLIPSCH.

Klipsch stays true to its legacy by offering us a package that delivers engaging home theater and a satisfying music experience.

"Great sound from smalls speakers but..."

Kilspch's speakers made me a believer in their product. But their lack of attention to the attachement jacks turned my speakers into a boat anchor.

The size of the speakers can fool you. I brought the ProLogic 2.1 three years ago and was thrilled to hear the sounds coming from my comuter.

Klipsch scrimped on the plastic connectors. I moved componants around and 3 of the 4 plastic tabs (to release the speaker wire) snapped in half! My repair guy said because of Klipsch's design, it would cost the same to repair as to replace. Beware

"Good Speakers, small but loud and clear."

Pros - Bought these speakers from TigerDirect in Jan 2010 bundled with Onkyo TX-SR507 7.2 Channel surround. I was initially disappointed looking at the size of the 4 speakers, but when I tuned the reciever and increased base loudness, it was awesome....

These speakers give out quite a clear definition for their size. The center speaker is extremely crisp and clear. Awesome Subwoofer

Cons - The speaker fixtures were cheap and would not allow the speakers to turn beyond a specific angle. The plastic connectors at the back are cheap looking and dont fit 12 gage wires too well.

Product Specifications

Klipsch's HD Theater 500 is a compact, high-definition 5.1 home theater system that's simple to set up and use. It consists of five speakers - left, center and right front channels with two rear surrounds - and one powered subwoofer. The magnetically shielded center channel - so it won't interfere with your TV picture - shares the same durable, high-quality attributes, except it employs dual woofers. The subwoofer delivers class-leading, room-shaking bass thanks to a powerful class D amplifier and an 8-inch driver. Featuring a sleek black pica vinyl finish, this hard-hitter also includes traditional volume, crossover and phase controls, so you can customize the level of bass for your room. Sound accounts for half of your home theater experience, whether you're watching a movie or sporting event - or even playing a video game. Your TV is only one piece of the puzzle. It's the audio that drives the action, creates the mood and brings your video content to life. So, make the HD Theater 500 part of your home entertainment today.
