Solid performers, Reliable sound

These were the third set of speakers I auditioned in my home when I was upgrading my home theater. I have owned the complete 80 series Northridge speaker set for about four years now. These do need a sub to help out the really low bass, as they are...

Bass is flat

Over all very decent speaker, however, the bass output is insufficient. Adding a JBL wofer does wonders. Also be careful the tweeter in the E80 is quite delicate if you get a bit too enthusiastic, thankfully JBL has replacements!!

I have one acoustimass 5 system from BOSE driven by one amazing Nakamishi RE-10 for more than 10 years and not so long time ago I got these JBL E-80 So I'm going to compare this 2 using the same amplifier since that, in my opinion, they come from the...

Atractive ; Well built ; Tone separation ; Good highs, punchy bass and defined vocal frequencies when bouble wired ; Price / quality

Nothing. Really. For this price? You have more than you pay

very low in bass, muuddy sound

I have 4 sets of floor speakers. Compared to my Paradigms these rate very poorly due to very low bass output and a poor clarity of sound, muddy.

Nice loudspeaker; unoffensive, detailed treble, clear, tight, too much upper and too few lower bass. Not as good for metal and rock than I think E90 would be. I recommend listening to E90 before buying this for a better bass performance.

Unoffensive, detailed, well spread, nice sounding treble. Good, rhythmic bass performance. The amount of upper bass doen't swallow other frequencies. Middle tones come also well. The overall balance is fairly good: sounds crisp, middle is heard clerly...

Too much upper bass compared with the amount of lower bass. Bass guitar doesn't sound powerful; there is no delicate growling of bass. Sounds too clean and tight. Probably this makes the loudspeaker to sound too clean and tight and the amount of upper...

Product Specifications

The Northridge E Series E80 dual 6-inch floorstanding loudspeaker delivers superb audio, whether used for critical listening in a stereo system, or when combined with a Northridge E center channel, bookshelf surrounds and a subwoofer to create a home theater system. The E80 performs like a pro, with technology developed by JBL's Professional division. Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true titanium-laminate tweeters and PolyPlas drivers, the speaker reproduces high notes with extreme clarity. The lows and mids, efficiently boosted by dual 6-inch woofers and assisted by the FreeFlow flared port, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. The Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide ensures that every seat is the best in the house for sweet music and intelligible dialogue, or for just rocking out. Since the transducers were purpose-designed to work together harmoniously, JBL's simple Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network divides the signal with minimal processing (and minimal opportunity to degrade the signal). Dual sets of sturdy gold-plated, 5-way binding posts enable bi-amping or bi-wiring. With the high, midrange and low frequencies isolated, the E80's four transducers can reproduce their frequency ranges more efficiently and with greater accuracy. The computer-designed, lock-mitred cabinet virtually eliminates distortion, and its slim European profile won't overpower your room.
