JBL Onbeat - Offtrack From Excellence

Audio docks for the all so popular iPod and iPhone range of products have been around long enough. Most of the lifestyle brands are the ones focussing on them.

The JBL Onbeat isn’t a flawless iPod dock. It’s natural sound signature is good to have but the lacking punch in the lower frequency range is bound to be a problem. We wished it wouldn't have distorted at higher volumes. Price wise, it’s not very cheap...

JBL Onbeat Rumble Review

When it comes to speaker docks, we've seen just about every style you can think of – from bass blasting boxes like the iNuke Boom Jr., to innovative designs that stretch the imagination (and the wallet) like the Zeppelin Air. JBL's new Lightning-ready...

Rich, powerful bass ; High velocity sound without distortion ; Clean and clear wireless connection

Icy upper register ; Lack of resolution in instrumental detail ; Expensive

The OnBeat Rumble delivers a wonderfully powerful sound with some of the best bass we’ve heard from a speaker in its class.

Streaming Speaker Offers AirPlay on a Budget

The $200 OnBeat Air is a streaming music speaker built for iTunes and iOS. And while its audio quality is bested by beefier speakers, it sounds good enough.

JBL OnBeat Air Review

What makes a “home theater” is defined by what the person wants it to be. For many, having a whole set of components strewn throughout a room isn't practical — free standing surround speakers, no way! [...]

Dynamic sound output ; Holds tablets ; Wireless audio streaming reception

Composite video output only ; No subwoofer output

A small dock with a big heart.

Pleasant design; Plug & Play operation; Supports all iOS devices; Vertical and horizontal orientation; Fast charging

Audio breaks at high volume; Underwhelming bass at high volume; iPad tilts downwards in horizontal orientation

There are no equalizer settings for the full-range transducers, so you might want to change that setting on your device itself. For playing Trance, Indie and regular pop I found the ‘Electronic’ EQ on the iPhone 4 to be the best for the JBL OnBeat.

JBL OnBeat Air

The JBL OnBeat AirPlay speaker is versatile with balanced sound output. AirPlay compatibility makes it extremely convenient for any Apple or iOS user.

The JBL AirPlay wireless speaker has a beautifully designed dock for iPhones and iPads

The sound sometimes distorts at high volumes

We recommend this well-designed speaker for its basic and attractive sound quality.

Reviews: JBL OnBeat Venue LT

Like OnBeat Venue, OnBeat Venue LT operates in two modes: docking and wireless. First, it can accommodate Lightning connector-equipped iPads, iPhones, and iPods using a front-mounted, spring-loaded dock with a small and similarly spring-loaded...

Overall, OnBeat Venue LT is basically just OnBeat Venue with a Lightning connector, a slightly different color scheme, and a few trivial omissions; it’s still a good rather than a great speaker system. Thanks to the Bluetooth hiccups, it’s best-suited...

JBL OnBeat Review

JBL's OnBeat speaker dock may lack AirPlay audio streaming like its more advanced sibling OnAir, but it still provides plenty of ways to enjoy your tunes. There's an iPod dock that also comfortably accommodates iPhones and iPads, plus a 3.5mm input on...

JBL OnBeat Venue LT review

The dock is compatible with the iPad mini, iPad (4th generation), iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th generation) and iPod nano (7th generation), basically any iOS device with a Lightning connector.

We liked the JBL OnBeat Venue LT but preferred the sound when our iPhone was docked to the sound via Bluetooth. However, the MusicFlow app combines with Bluetooth to give you remote controlled access to all your music from the other side of the room,...

JBL OnBeat

A little throne for your iPhone, iPod or iPad.

Good build quality ; Coherent design ; Will hold an iPad

Bass falls apart at high volume

There are just two controls on the OnBeat dock itself, two volume buttons that sit on the right edge. The rest of playback and navigational commands are delivered using the tiny bundled remote, which also lets you sift through your iPod's library.
