JBL On Stage Micro iPod Dock

There's an iPod dock for every room, and the market is so saturated with sizes and brands, that it can be pretty tough to make a choice. For now, let's talk about JBL's On Stage Micro, a tiny little entry-level dock.

My final verdict is that this dock is good, but not great. You can keep it in your bedroom and listen to it while you're lying down, cleaning or doing whatever it is that you do in your bedroom. You could even use it for some background music when you...

JBL On Stage Micro II

You could easily spend more on an iPod or iPhone speaker dock, but something about the $129 (direct) price tag on the JBL On Stage Micro II seems a little high. Sure, the familiar circular design is pleasing to the eye, and the remote control offers...

Space-saving design. Can run on batteries for portability. Full iPod navigation on remote control

Overpriced. So-so audio performance. Distorts at high volumes

The JBL On Stage Micro II is a solid portable or space-saving option; but the remote is the best thing about this iPod dock. With a $130 price tag, sound quality should be better.

JBL On Stage Micro II Review

In a world near-saturated with iPod docks, JBL still managed to carve a niche with their diminutive On Stage Micro. The battery-powered portable speaker system is now around three years old, and JBL have updated it in the shape of the On Stage Micro...

To be blunt, JBL have taken our key criticisms of the first-gen model and addressed them in turn, while keeping the speaker dock’s compact appeal. Of course, if you’re looking for the best audio output from your iPod or iPhone there are other, larger –...

Lose the earbuds and the connection cables with this portable speaker dock.

JBL OnStage II

Since the debut of the iPod, many companies have rushed to release speaker accessories to the masses. However, only a few companies have done it right by taking the time to manufacture a product with great sound, excellent quality, and top-notch...

Supports all iPods; good sound quality; very affordable

Limited remote functionality; 3.5mm connector is too short; does not support battery power

You'll have a great listening experience using the OnStage II in your home.

JBL ON STAGE speaker

As the name suggests, the On Stage is shaped like a small circular stage with a diameter of 7 inches and a height of 2 inches; the white plastic casing features a donut-esque hole in the center and a gray mesh screen wrapped around the outer edge....

Charges the iPod, whether powered on or off; stylish; small footprint; dedicated volume controls; includes stereo minijack and cable for use with any audio device; acts as a dock for computer syncing; rich and bright sound for small speakers.

No battery power option--therefore, not truly portable; no remote control.

JBL's On Stage iPod speakers provide a great way to enjoy tunes at home by yourself or with a few friends.

JBL On Stage IV

The terms "portable" and "top-notch audio" are rarely linked, primarily because it's difficult to make speakers lightweight and easy-to-pack without sacrificing sound quality. And to a certain extent, size does matter if you expect to have stereo...

Portable. Quality audio performance at moderate levels. Remote control offers full iPod navigation

Bass distorts at high volumes. Requires six AA batteries to operate without AC power. Remote control buttons are over-sensitive

JBL On Stage Micro Review and Prices

Big sound in a small body would be the best way to describe the JBL On Stage Micro. Those looking for a small, tight iPod speaker system will want to seek this model out for its great audio and good mix of features. The JBL On Stage Micro takes the...

Great sound, advanced iPod menu controls, portability

Lack of iPod video output

JBL on stage II

JBL's ring of music design sets it apart from the myriad sub $200 speaker systems for the iPod. Stereo speakers for the iPod generally are designed as two speakers with a center connector like the Altec Lansing inMotion mini or as a wall of sound, a la...

The remote, charging, syncing / docking features and the 3.5mm input make this a versatile iPod accessory that does more than push sound.

JBL On Stage II with Remote Loudspeaker Dock for iPod

Slightly more than a year ago, we reviewed and really liked JBL's On Stage (iLounge rating: B+), a docking speaker system for iPods that was shaped like a small flying saucer and retailed at the time for $200. Recently, the company has quietly released...

An attractive, easy-to-move four-driver speaker enclosure that delivers very good sound, iPod docking, syncing, and charging, and a similarly very good RF-based remote control

As with last year's model, is not portable despite its small size, and therefore confined to use indoors and/or near a wall outlet. Delivers less performance for the dollar than company's excellent and similarly confined 2.1-channel speaker systems,...

After a disappointing experience with Logitech's AudioStation i had to give much more thought to what I really wanted from an ipod speaker. A much smaller footprint. The best sound quality I could get for preferably under $150. Reasonably lightweight...
