MDF is fine.

 

Everyone uses MDF now. It's because it doesn't resonate like plywood. The cost difference between MDF and plywood is not that great... especially the 1" thick MDF used in the La Scala speakers. Plus, MDF is harder on tooling... sparks fly from carbide...

Now before I go on I will say the the sound quality is great, (at least until they fall apart) and if sound is the "only" requirement than they are as good as anything out there, BUT, if you care about workmanship steer clear, as they are manufactured...
