Klipsch RB-81 Speaker System

When I ran across the Klipsch RB-81—in the newly renovated Reference Series—I couldn't resist ordering a set. It's been years since I've reviewed a two-way design with a great big 8-inch woofer. The very concept brought on one of my increasingly...

Big, Bold, Sweet and the Best

This is my 5th different Klipsch Speaker Gone through Klipschs quintet II and SL, RB-51, RVX-42, RS-42 the best and for sure the last one. It is not compact and looks more like a small floorstander rather than a bookshelf. So first check you space but...

Klipsch RB-81 II (Black)

I've owned quite a few Klipsch speakers and have always liked their sonic immediacy, dynamics and presence. From my first set of Heresy I's from 1978 theirs have been among my favorites. The RB-81II's are no exception and are in my opinion among the...

Klipsch RB-81 II (Black)

This is a very good speaker which can you can display with confidence that it is among the better bookshelf speakers. I have many of the fine Klipsch reference speakers in an 11.2 system where they serve well as surround speakers. I'm sure in a smaller...

Klipsch RB-81 II (Black)

These speakers sound fantastic for rock music, funk rock, country, hip hop, and most other genres. I love their seperation and detail. They do provide adequate bass, but for large rooms a powered sub might be in order. I have used them both ways and...

Klipsch RB-81 II (Black)

Well what can I say, these speakers were the ones that let me fall in love with music. I auditioned other speakers in this price range including Polk, Infinity, Mirage, Paradigm, and others, but these were the ones I kept coming back to. Granted, there...

Klipsch RB-81 II (Black)

This is my review of tjhe rb-81 speakers. Well first of all, this is a big speaker. My previos tannoy dc6 speakers loked like a pair of small computer speakers compared to these beasts. Mine are in black and the finish is nice, nothing fancy but good...

Product Specifications

A towering achievement in a bookshelf design, the Reference Series RB-81 delivers unrivaled audio performance for those who demand the very best. With its high-end materials and cosmetic elegance, this flagship model is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Exclusive Tractrix Horns have always been the key component of this critically acclaimed series. In the RB-81, this technology has been refined to include improved throat geometry for a more genuine, lifelike sound. Behind the horn lies a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a large ceramic motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless power. The RB-81 employs an 8-inch woofer for a solid bass foundation. This Cerametallic woofer with inverted copper dust cap exhibits a very high stiffness-to-mass ratio and superb damping characteristics. The RB-81's front-firing port eliminates turbulence noise and makes installation into custom cabinetry a breeze. Increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. For signal purity and perfect driver integration, the crossover on the RB-81 features the finest components and Klipsch custom internal wiring. The RB-81 comes with a low-diffraction, magnetically attached grille to further accentuate the elegance of this speaker.
