Klipsch Quintet review

There aren't too many compact speaker systems that have been around as long the Klipsch Quintets. Not too many have been as popular, either. Thanks to its svelte form factor, good looks, and all-around pleasant sound, it consistently ranks as one of...

Surprising dynamics and loudness capabilities ; Rich, warm, and well-balanced sound ; Great for long-term listening sessions ; Fulsome lower mids rare for speakers of this category

Recessed upper mids and lower treble can obscure detail ; No angling/tilt footers for the center channel

The Quintets combination of class-leading build quality, pleasingly rich sound, and compact size keeps them firmly in the top-tier of mid-priced miniature speaker systems.

These speakers are highly efficient and have a solid frequency response range.

This speaker system does not come with a subwoofer. You need to match these speakers with a dedicated subwoofer if you want full frequency response.

Compact satellite/subwoofer sets are often affordable, mate well with budget receivers, allow more speaker-placement width than soundbars, lend themselves to wall mounting—and best of all, they don't hog the room, even if you place them on stands...

Great medium-sized home theater speakers

I have owned these speakers for about 5 months and have them set up with a 4-year-old Onkyo home-theater-in-a-box receiver and a 10-inch Polk subwoofer. When hooking these speakers up to my receiver, I noticed a huge difference from the cheap Onkyo...

Superb sound quality; binding posts instead of spring clips; included stands and keyholes for wall mounting; modern design and small enough that they are not too obtrusive; would look good with a wall-mounted LCD or plasma TV

Probably not powerful enough for a large home theater; you will need to add a subwoofer for decent bass

Great speakers

For people who are having problems with wall mounting try hanging them upside down so the weight of the speaker is hanging and try two screws and make sure they are in a stud or joist.

I've had these for over 1 and a half years and still love them but makes you wonder what really great speakers would sound like. The sound is really amazing but sometimes a bit brite.Like someone said make sure you have a good receiver and good wire.I...

A little brite

Great lil package

I have theses in a 7.1 setup with Klipsch F-20's and a Klipsch 650watt 12in subwoofer on an Onkyo 708. sounds amazing. kinda wish I would of went with a bigger receiver but I have yet to been able to max it out without it hurting my ears anyways :)

I've had these speakers about 6 months now and so far I've had 0 issues with these. They sound great and they mount just fine. I'm only using 2 screws in the mounts the top and bottom middle ones. I did put the rubber feet on the bottom and kinda...

none. like other ppl have said about the mounts and the speakers dropping. TRY TIGHTENING THEM UP. And for the sound try using a GOOD speaker wire with good connectors

Truly... Epic

I did not buy is from NewEgg, but, had to share my experience

I just picked up these insanely bad boys for the sale price of $290. Best deal I've ever seen.I was upgrading from a Samsung HTIB... I bought a Pioneer receiver last weekend, coupled with the Klipsch 350 powered subwoofer. I'd been thinking of adding...

Does not make toast. That's really it

Not worth it

I don't know if it's just me, horns just hurt my ears and these caused fatigue within minutes. I would never buy Klipsch again. This was the second time, I wish I would have learned more the first time. No grant you, the direction I went cost me more...

Size, cost and box. Easy to dump

I had these in my home for 6 days before I packed them up and sold them off. They sound like a tin can and no matter what subs you use, it won't help

Speaker mounts

I'm not sure what all the fuss is with the speaker mounts...or why you're only using 3 screws, if you're having issues. I have these mounted on the wall with 4 screws with no droop at all. (the bracket is slotted for 4 screws) They look great on the wall

Product Specifications

Comprised of three LCR (left, center, right) speakers and two satellites for surrounds, the Quintet SL incorporates over 60 years of class-leading research and development experience. In fact, it utilizes the same cutting-edge technology as Klipsch professional cinema products, which are chosen by leading cinema operators around the world. Each magnetically shielded LCR speaker employs dual 3.5-inch high-output woofers and a 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter mated to an exclusive Tractrix horn, a design that delivers genuine lifelike sound as well as produces more output using less energy. Each also offers easy keyhole wall mounting and includes a pedestal foot for free-standing use as a left/right main speaker or center channel. The two surround satellites are the same speakers featured in the Quintet Microsystem. Each utilizes a 3.5-inch long-throw woofer for remarkable detail and clarity and a 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter coupled to a MicroTractrix Horn for precise high frequencies. Additionally, these magnetically shielded satellites feature a swiveling pedestal foot for convenient wall mounting or bookshelf placement. In order to create the low-frequency power you can hear and feel, Klipsch recommend pairing the Quintet SL up with Klipsch Sub-12 subwoofer. The Sub-12 reaches deeper and hits harder thanks to a 12-inch, down-firing driver coupled to a highly efficient BASH amplifier. In addition to using premium components throughout, the Quintet SL has a modern, refined industrial design. While the LCRs and satellites feature a dark gray finish with medium gray accents, the Sub-12 is available in a black ash vinyl finish with titanium accents.
