Libratone Lounge

If you have room in your budget and home for this behemoth, the Libratone Lounge is unlikely to disappoint, unless you're really only craving booming bass.

Extremely powerful speaker with wide stereo separation for a single unit. Easy set-up, streams wireless audio via AirPlay, DLNA, as well as via direct from device, no wireless router needed. Pleasing visual design

Massive and expensive. Digital signal processing limits bass at high volumes, preventing distortion but altering the sound signature on deep bass tracks. No remote control

Perhaps you're looking for a single speaker system for your entire house, something that can really fill a very large room, but also operate well at subtle volumes. Perhaps you're prepared to spend $1,299.95 (direct) on such a purchase, provided it...

Libratone Lounge review

You've likely never heard of Libratone. Fair enough. But maybe you're familiar with Steinway Lyngdorf Audio, the Danish company that specializes in high-performance professional audio? Jes Mosgaard, the former CEO of Lyngdorf...

Easily fills a large living room with sound ; Excellent audio reproduction ; Wireless AirPlay convenience

Pricey: $100 extra for colored cashmere ; Limited to a single mini-TOSLINK input ; Stereo only, can’t simulate multi-channel surround like other soundbars

There’s no other AirPlay-enabled speaker on the market capable of matching the Lounge in price (that's bad) or acoustic muscle (that's good)

Libratone Lounge AirPlay Loudspeaker Reviewed

A new player by the name of Libratone is entering the fray, bringing with them the Lounge wireless loudspeaker. With AirPlay compatibility and modern looks, the Lounge promises a lot. How does it deliver? Read on to find out.

So how do I best sum up the Libratone Lounge wireless loudspeaker? Style over substance. While those whose decor leans more towards Case Study furniture and Eames lounge chairs will no doubt relish the Lounge's modern visual appeal, there just isn't...

Libratone Lounge review

The solidly built Lounge is without doubt one of the biggest soundbars ever made, and with its Italian cashmere jacket, certainly one of the most surprisingly clad. While designed to make an impact thanks to its maximalist proportions, it has a...

Powerful, detailed sound; top-notch design; simple operation

Expensive; sheer size may be awkward; no HDMI connectivity

Libratone Lounge AirPlay speaker

The setup procedure for the Lounge is quite simple, and instruction booklets are included for whether you're using the initial setup through an iPhone, Mac, PC, or other device. We set up the Lounge using an iPod touch — waiting for the Lounge to start...

Libratone's Lounge speaker system is designed to hide away on your sideboard or take pride of place under your plasma TV - wherever it sits, it'll look great and be incredibly easy to use (if you've got an iDevice). The sound that the Libratone Lounge...

Libratone Lounge

A £1000+ soundbar with the looks of a piece of designer furniture.

Looks great ; Extremely well-made ; Utterly convenient for iOS users

Sound lacks scale and volume ; No phono input

Airplay is dead easy to use, integrated into the interface of compatible Apple devices as well as you'd expect from those user-experience experts. Android phones can get in on the action too, using the DoubleTwist app. If you want to plug in a regular...

Libratone Lounge

The Lounge is a tall, beefy-sounding bar. But it lacks the sonic ability needed to make an impact at this level

Entertaining sound ; Controlled treble ; Allows for wireless streaming

Can sound messy ; Overbearing bass ; Limited connections ; Extra height could hinder positioning

The Lounge is a large, attention-grabbing and powerful-sounding speaker. But its ham-fisted approach to movies and music lacks long-term appeal.

Libratone Lounge

If you really want to improve the sound quality of your Apple device you need external sound, here is perhaps the widest single speaker unit I have looked at. From the same people that the recently reviewed Libratone Zipp came from, but bigger, much...

This Libratone Lounge measures 101x10.5x24cm. While there is a wall mounting kit provided I would check the wall strength before fitting it as it weights 12kilos. I used it on the floor and in front of my TV on the TV unit. This is designed as an ‘i’...
