M-Audio Studiophile AV 30

The M-Audio brand name may mean more to musicians and music producers than gamers and iTunes junkies, but all you really need to know is that the company makes one of the best-sounding PC and multimedia speakers you can buy. Unfortunately, those...

The M-Audio Studiophile AV 30 is a powered speaker system with magnetic shielding, a solid construction, and a beefy sound quality, all priced less than $100

The integrated amplifier doesn't get loud enough to wake the neighbors, and the power switch is inconveniently located on the back

M-Audio's Studiophile AV 30 speaker system delivers powerful, detailed sound in a relatively compact space, and does it all at a remarkably low price.

M-Audio AV30 Desktop Monitors

I've been using the M-Audio AV30 desktop monitors for a year or so now for video editing and just general desktop audio use. They are 15-watt powered monitors driving 3-inch woofers and 3/4-inch tweeters.

Review Of M-Audio Studiophile AV 30

Compared to the AV 40 which is priced at $150, its sibling has been priced $99. Also it does not have the same features but yeah obviously since its priced less u cant expect the same stuff from this one. This one resorts to using a cheaper amplifier...

punchy lows, clear, crisp highs, dandy speakers for the price, classic design, not bulky

Gets really hot in the back, a bit of a deep bass response, integrated amplifier isn't that loud, also the power button is located awkwardly at the back

: The sound quality is fantabulous not much of shrill or blaring sounds. Highly impressive at the price that it is being offered for. If u are looking out for a high end speaker at a layman affordable price for probably a small room and you are not...

these speakers rock. a no brainer

these speakers are a great choice. have them hooked up to a MacBook Pro with iTunes and feel like a DJ. In a pinch, i just used them with an ipad and had a portable party. i haven't been this pleased with a consumer / tech purchase in years, if ever. ...

sound quality ; range

none i can think of

The left speaker WILL FRY!

DO NOT BUY I REPEAT..DONT BUY! google around for m-audio av 30 loss of sound

Sounded good when it worked

BROKE! This is a problem with these speakers. The left speaker will go (the speaker that has the amp) you will get 30% sound out of it and 100% from the right one

"Superb portable powered speakers."

Some think that 100 bux is a lot for a set of...

The sound is crisp and clear. There is no exaggeration of any single frequency and the sound produced is quite accurate. Most brick and mortar speakers don't get as clear as these at even twice the price. Great aesthetics. Lows get down to 50s w/boost

Built-in amp gets very hot, almost too much to touch for more then a few seconds, after an hour+ of use

M-Audio Studiophile AV 30

Some think that 100 bux is a lot for a set of 2.0 computer speakers. They are right, it is a lot. But these are not PC speakers. They can be easily used as PC speakers, but THEY ARE NOT PC SPEAKERS! They are portable powered monitor speakers to use...

Excellent (Conditionally)

First things first. Don't expect to be bumping bass out of these guys. Not what they were built for. I bought these for my laptop because I have Z-5500s out in the living room for bumping loud music and wanted something a little more refined for where...

Excellent imaging ; Crisp, neutral sound output ; Lots of sound output for their size, they don't peak out at very high volume either ; Great build quality ; Compact size ; Plenty of included accessories/cables

A bit overpriced @ MSRP ; Power switch on rear ; Amp on left channel gets very toasty

Great speakers for regular music listeners.

The speakers seem a bit expensive for most people looking for computer speakers but I think you are going to have a hard time finding any other speakers with a clean and deep sound in this price range. As an added bonus, if you are a hipster or wannabe...

Wrings every bit of out goodness out of songs. Even mediocre encoded mp3s

The back of the speakers get really hot. You should give them a bit of space if you have them near a wall

Even when cranked up , clear as a bell

Product Specifications

The Studiophile AV 30 compact powered speakers make it easy to enjoy full, rich sound even when space is limited. They're designed with the same critically acclaimed technology that has made M-Audio monitors popular in recording studios around the world. The Studiophile AV 30 speakers deliver clear, crisp highs and deep lows, along with superior clarity and imaging. Designed for the traveling musician or multimedia enthusiast, the Studiophile AV 30 system is the perfect audio upgrade for desktop production systems, portable video games, personal DVD players and more. The Studiophile AV 30 speakers feature the same core technology used in all of M-Audio's acclaimed professional monitors. Designed for a variety of mobile and desktop applications where space is at a premium, the speakers include audiophile-grade amplifier architecture as well as RCA inputs, making them compatible with practically all professional and consumer audio products. In addition, dedicated 0.75" ferrofluid-cooled tweeters and composite woofers work with built-in crossovers to ensure optimal fidelity. The Studiophile AV 30 speakers allow you to get the most out of today's urban / dance music, movies, and video games. Unlike the "acoustically challenged" plastic found in many speakers in this price range, the Studiophile AV 30's feature dense wood cabinets, bass reflex design and an integrated bass boost switch to deliver tight, accurate low-frequency response. The Studiophile AV 30 speakers are magnetically shielded and designed to coexist with all manner of electronic equipment without interference, making them perfectly suited for video editing and multimedia work. M-Audio's proprietary OptImage III wave guide improves overall detail and clarity while minimizing sound issues that can plague other compact speakers. The system works by improving the overall efficiency of the tweeter as well as time-aligning the drivers. This ensures that the sound from each driver reaches the listener at the same time, guaranteeing precise stereo imaging and accurate response.
