M-Audio AV30 Desktop Monitors

I've been using the M-Audio AV30 desktop monitors for a year or so now for video editing and just general desktop audio use. They are 15-watt powered monitors driving 3-inch woofers and 3/4-inch tweeters.

Review Of M-Audio Studiophile AV 30

Compared to the AV 40 which is priced at $150, its sibling has been priced $99. Also it does not have the same features but yeah obviously since its priced less u cant expect the same stuff from this one. This one resorts to using a cheaper amplifier...

punchy lows, clear, crisp highs, dandy speakers for the price, classic design, not bulky

Gets really hot in the back, a bit of a deep bass response, integrated amplifier isn't that loud, also the power button is located awkwardly at the back

: The sound quality is fantabulous not much of shrill or blaring sounds. Highly impressive at the price that it is being offered for. If u are looking out for a high end speaker at a layman affordable price for probably a small room and you are not...

Satisfyingly clean sound

I honestly cannot think of a single genre that is disadvantaged from these speakers. I listen to just about everything, my favorite genres being classical, metal, and electronic dance music (mostly trance). Obviously with classical music, it is hard to...

Clean Sound ; Bass boost doesn't hinder the other frequencies, just raises the lowest ones slightly ; Brings out details in sound I can't even get out of my best pair of headphones ; Looks great around my PC monitor ; That hum that all speakers get...

Blown, 2 months after end of warranty

Good capacitors are only a little more expensive than cheap ones that blow up after 14 months, and would be worth paying a little more. Shame on M-Audio for cutting corners! They obviously have the expertise in house to make good speakers. But until I...

Sounded GREAT while they worked. So I gave them a 5-egg review soon after buying them

Stopped working; busted caps (blown capacitors). Both electrolytics capacitors in the left speaker have swollen, and spewed disgusting yellow goo all over the circuit board, so even if I replace the busted caps, the speakers will probably never work again

These aren't your Daddy's desktop speakers

These speakers are a great upgrade if you are thinking about replacing your workstation's existing speakers. The convenience ports on the front are very handy should you want to run a line out of your MP3 player or external device, and the headphone...

7 months later...

I am really disappointed about these speakers. I have used several M-Audio based gear before and I hopped that these would fill in that gap when I did not want to use my headphones. The fact that These have very little usage and died like they did is...

Sounds really good. Don't need a sub. Compact. Good price

These things basically sound blown after owning them for 7 months. I have never turned up the volume past 11 and never put any hard hitting bass though these. I started getting a static sound and it sounded like they were blown. Visual inspection shows...

AV30 The Good and the Ugly

These speakers are very nice to listen to but I don't recommend them. I just dont understand how speakers of this quality can go bad after a year of non-abuse use. I've had other speakers such as logitech/creative for years and never had issues. ...

Great sound compared to most speakers

Lots of issues with left speaker. If your speakers ever have issues and warranty is out after a year, trash it and get new ones cause it will cost you more to ship them out for repairs. And good luck getting support without forking over a lot of hard...

Best 2.0 Speakers in this range

Had these for a little over a year and they're been through a lot of transportation and a decent amount of abuse but they haven't even shows signs of giving in yet. These would hold their own in a studio. For the price, you can't get any better. ...

Amazing sound quality. Crisp sound. Clean and smooth bass. Not too much of any frequency. Sturdy construction. Comes with decoupling pads. Headphone and aux in ports on the front. Smooth volume knob

The back of the left speaker tends to get hot. Not really a problem at all for me though

The Studiophile AV 30 speakers are magnetically shielded and designed to coexist with all manner of electronic equipment without interference, making them perfectly suited for video editing and multimedia work. M-Audio's proprietary OptImage III wave guide improves overall detail and clarity while minimizing sound issues that can plague other compact speakers. The system works by improving the overall efficiency of the tweeter as well as time-aligning the drivers. This ensures that the sound from each driver reaches the listener at the same time, guaranteeing precise stereo imaging and accurate response.
