I purchased the SB1s based on previous limited experience with older NHT super ones. Thought they sonded great a few years ago and when the time came to switch to a home theater system the size and sound of the SB1 really attracted me. I auditioned...

Size, appearance, video shielding. Good for HT

Poor at reproducing clear vocals, and poor dispersion. Lacking some of the highs and midrange that a high end speaker should have

Bought a pair to be used specificially for home theatre. Currently paired with me olde Quad 77 integrated amp, linked to a cheapo DVD player via Nordost Black Knight interconnects and Kimber 8TC speaker cables (cabling overkill, yeah). The plan is to...

Bright and clear. Lovely piano-black finish. Unintrusive size

Not very involving to listen to for music. A bit thin in the midrange

I purchased a low end Yamaha home theater in a box system YHT-340 for our weekend condo. I wanted something to use for DVD's and couldn't accommodate a floor sub-woofer. The Yamaha seemed pretty good for the money ($400) and, though I know it is not...

Excellent soundtight, crispfits in small placesbeautiful high gloss black finish

Must have a sub-woofer, even a low end one

Amazing speakers for the price. I am amazed at the depth and extent of soundstage these mini-monitors are able to project. The highs and mids are crystal clear, the best I have EVER heard. Since I am on a limited budget, I use these speakers as mains...

Amazing soundstage, crystal clear highs and mids

If used as mains, need a good subwoofer

As a former SuperZero user (I still own my pair), I came to experience the joys and pains of the legendary SuperZero. Absolutely great midrange, but a little rolled-off on the top, a bit lacking in dynamic range, and, missing any semblance of bass,...

Keeps the best qualities of legendary SuperZero, but with half an octave more of bass. Midrange that is so "right", with detailed treble, lack of boxiness, no boominess, and good imaging. Great transients. Amazing fit and finish...who expects true,...

Will point out the flaws in poorly mastered recordings. Not suitable for very large rooms. Best paired with a subwoofer...and a very "quick" one, at that. Ironically, the SB1s are so quick that they require a much more expensive, high-end subwoofer...

Product Specifications

NHT's smallest and most affordable bookshelf loudspeaker, the SuperAudio SB-1 is a 2-way acoustic suspension design delivering tight, musical response. The SB1 employs a 5.25" woofer with bass response of 68 Hz exceeding the minimum requirements of digital surround formats, and the SuperAudio 1" metal dome, fluid-cooled tweeter. The enclosure is manufactured from medium density fiber board (mdf) and strengthened further with internal bracing for an acoustically neutral cabinet. The enclosure is then finished in 7 coats of solid particle paint, painstakingly hand finished to a high gloss piano luster.Diminutive in size, the SB-1 delivers remarkable mid-range detail and low distortion. Combine it with the SW10ii powered subwoofer to build a full-range system for either stereo or surround sound. Wall mountable, and available in black or white. Recommended center channel speaker - the SuperAudio SC1.
