Paradigm Shift A2 Powered Bookshelf Speakers

The Active Atom, or A2 to be hip, is part of a new sub-brand dubbed Paradigm Shift.

Reinforced by the fact that these fall under a new brand, the A2 was created with a different and new focus for Paradigm: “Fun”. There are plenty of situations where good sound may be appreciated but where there is no need to go for broke and...

Paradigm SHIFT A2 Active Speakers Review

Paradigm has been a mainstay of the high-end two-channel, home theater, and lifestyle speaker market for so many years now, it's easy to take them for granted. I bet some audiophiles do. Not me. My home theater system is all Paradigm, and I use their...

Paradigm Shift A2 Active Bookshelf Speakers Review

There's always a first time for everything. And it's the first time for the Canadian manufacturer Paradigm to enter the Active Speaker segment. Certainly, this is a good move and it would be a welcome move to see more audio manufacturers to enter into...

TECHNOLOGY Paradigm engineers have surely put in a lot of effort to make an entry into the Active speaker segment. The A2s should not be looked upon as studio monitors but as any other home-entertainment speakers. The only fact that will separate them...

Paradigm Shift A2 loudspeaker review

There are reasons to buy active bookshelf speakers over an iPod/Bluetooth dock. What you lose in portability and convenience is immediately gained in true performance. The A2s from Paradigm Shift are a case in point – their cabinet size affords space...

The A2’s audio performance will leave a grin on your face – for smallish cabinets these pack serious punch, with enough low-end to snuffle out the basslines in your MP3 collection and a mellifluous mid-range. The overall sound is very easy on the ear,...

The optional Bluetooth receiver isn’t supplied with a USB AC adapter – so you’ll have to buy one of those, too ; If you opt for a pair of A2s, remember you’ll need to plug both the speakers into your mains, and run cabling between the two – which isn’t...

Paradigm Shift A2

Active speakers that know how to have a good time.

Powerful, controlled bass

Mids lack texture ; Bit too "fun" to function as serious monitors ; Distracting front LED

Each speaker has a volume dial on the back, so if you're using a couple as a stereo pair, you'll need to match them manually. And even with the volume set to "zero", there's still a slight hiss that may annoy if you want to use them as computer speakers.

Paradigm Shift A2 Review: These Little Speakers Will Blow Your Roof Off

Paradigm have been making high-quality audio equipment for a long, long time. But last year they launched their new Paradigm Shift line to bring their...

I used these speakers over the span of a couple months in a room that is roughly 9m x 4.5m with vaulted ceiling. Long story short, there’s a lot of space to fill. I don’t think I once had the A2s turned up more than 50 per cent. Should You Buy It? On...
