Pioneer SP-SB23W review

Pioneer was once king of the budget speaker market, offering a host of car and home audio speakers that pumped up the volume for a pittance. However, in more recent years, the company has found its numbers in the entry-level market slipping behind a...

Warm, detailed sound signature ; Musical bass response ; Integrates well with all content ; Convenient setup and design

Bluetooth connection spotty/possible stereo issues ; Treble is slightly tinny on occasion

The system’s rich and clear sound signature, ample stereo spread, and musical low end provided just the right boost of sound quality…

Pioneer SP-SB23W

The Pioneer SP-SB23W ($400/AU$849) sounds better than just about any sound bar we've heard. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been following Pioneer's line of Andrew Jones-designed budget speakers , which have consistently offered...

The Pioneer SP-SB23W offers outstanding sound quality for a sound bar, particularly when it comes to the blend between the sub and the main cabinet. Performance is even more impressive considering the size of the tiny wireless subwoofer, which is easy...

The system's style won't wow you and the sound bar's relatively chunky size might block your TV's remote sensor. The included remote is mediocre and there's no front-panel display for visual feedback while making adjustments.

The Pioneer SP-SB23W is the best affordable sound bar if you care about sound quality, with its outstanding sonics making up for some of its design limitations.

Review: Pioneer SP-SB23W sound bar

Wood construction Pioneer sound bar impresses

Wood build for resonance- Good, even volume- High accuracy sound reproduction

Large speaker bar- Problematic installation- Known (fixable) Bluetooth issues

Pioneer has been heavily invested in home audio for decades. Couple that expertise with the predilection for flat screen televisions to have equally flat-sounding speakers, and the fit seems obvious. Couple a television-oriented sound bar with wirele

Sounds great but poor quality

Sounds fine

Have had this sound bar for about 1.5 years and it already quit working. I watch TV maybe about 2-3 hours per week so it didn't have many hours of use. About 14 months in, it started making a loud popping noise right when you turned it on but then it...

Excellent Soundbar

I have been having this sound bar for almost an year. I really enjoy the sound quality. Though no extra bells and whistles, pioneer focused just on deliver excellent sound. If you are OK with the sound bar size this would be an excellent choice.

Excellent sound, sub woofer, strong built quality with composite wood

Cheaply made remote, Design of the sound bar is not attractive as other

DO NOT BUY

First time I've had a bad refurb through Newegg, but I'm sure I'll probably steer clear of them for a while now as this has put a sour taste in my mouth. I suppose I'll try contacting Pioneer directly to see if they'll do anything about it, but I'm not...

Great sound through the soundbar

Apparently the bluetooth sync issues between the soundbar and the subwoofer (which are heavily documented on other sites) have not been resolved. It worked just long enough for me to throw away the original box, which (of course!) Newegg needs in order...

Beautiful Sound

Excellent sound and quality. Bluetooth is nice as well, but blows the TV speakers out of the water. Not even close ; The Movie, Music and Conversation modes are nice. It almost seems like besides an EQ adjustment they move the sub crossover

I wish it had some indication of how high the volume was turned up

Pioneer soundbar

They should come up with a way of making the subwoofer connection wired from the soundbar to avoid sync issues.

Very nice looking product ; Sound is awesome

The wireless sub keeps on losing sync
