Klipsch SW-450 Powered Subwoofer Reviewed

The SW-450 is one of Klipsch's more affordable offerings. On movies and games, the overall sound was very good. "It never seemed to run out of power and offered great punch, weight and extension." It is built well and "looks as good as anything in its...

The Klipsch SW-450 performs wonderfully with movies and games, with excellent punch, weight, and extension that often belied its small size

The SW-450 needs more refinement on musical tracks, especially acoustic, classical, and jazz material, where its big but sometimes uncontrolled sound imposes a bit too much on the material ; The SW-450 lacks a high-pass crossover output, which could...

The SW-450 offers the classic Klipsch value proposition - great build quality, dynamic, aggressive performance, affordable price. It's not the most refined subwoofer sonically but, at the same time, it kills on movie and gaming material, offers some...

Awesome subwoofer.

I purchased two of these subwoofers to complete a 7.2 setup. I play Call of Duty and wanted enough speaker power to crack heads. When a grenade blows up next to me, I want to feel it! These subwoofers definitely deliver! I am very pleased and highly...

Great Subwoofer

Great Subwoofer

I am a frequent poster over at the AVSForum and most people in their will absolutely tell you that HSU, SVS, etc. are better subs than Klipsch. While that may be true, there are some of us that support our local B&M stores or prefer the convenience of...

Great sub with great sound

My brother in law has the model one step up with a 12" 600 watt amp but I can't tell any difference between his sub and mine. Both great products from Klipsch.

I actually bought this sub from a brick and mortar over a year ago and have been extremely happy with the overall sound quality of this great sub. Every other speaker in my system, now all Polk TSI series, has been upgraded except this sub. I have an...

Of course it isn't small but cabinet space has a lot to do with how low your sub can go and this sub easily plays to 25Hz with good SPL

Klipsch SW-450

A substantial-sounding subwoofer that's more than capable, but some rivals can handle complexity better

Substantial and weighty sound; understated looks

Can lose its way with more complex basslines

Klipsch Synergy B20/SW450

More notable for its vibrancy than its flaws, but the Klipsch is an acquired taste

Intriguing driver arrangement; positional flexibility; full-strength, energetic sound

Sub plods as the speakers sprint; tweeters lack refinement

Product Specifications

The SW-450 subwoofer uncovers what you've been missing in your music, movies and video games - clean, chest-thumping bass. It's an ideal companion for many of the front, center and surround speakers, whether you're looking to achieve a 5.1 system or a 5.1 on the Richter scale. Great sound begins with a great bottom end. The SW-450 subwoofer delivers the two lowest octaves of the ten humans can hear, intensifying your listening and viewing experiences. The SW-450 fills any room with big, clear bass, thanks to its powerful 10-inch driver and Class D amplifier. But if you really want to experience what this hard-hitter can do, be sure to place it in the corner of your room. In general, placing a subwoofer along the middle of the wall, or out in the room will decrease its output. In addition to its unparalleled performance, the SW-450 offers unmatched flexibility. A low pass crossover and variable phase control lets you effectively blend the subwoofer's low-frequency tones with other Klipsch speakers as well as establish a level of bass that's just right for your room. The SW-450 subwoofer is truly the way to go if you want to hear and feel your stereo or home theater entertainment.
