Klipsch SW-450 Powered Subwoofer Reviewed

The SW-450 is one of Klipsch's more affordable offerings. On movies and games, the overall sound was very good. "It never seemed to run out of power and offered great punch, weight and extension." It is built well and "looks as good as anything in its...

The Klipsch SW-450 performs wonderfully with movies and games, with excellent punch, weight, and extension that often belied its small size

The SW-450 needs more refinement on musical tracks, especially acoustic, classical, and jazz material, where its big but sometimes uncontrolled sound imposes a bit too much on the material ; The SW-450 lacks a high-pass crossover output, which could...

The SW-450 offers the classic Klipsch value proposition - great build quality, dynamic, aggressive performance, affordable price. It's not the most refined subwoofer sonically but, at the same time, it kills on movie and gaming material, offers some...

Klipsch Synergy B20/SW450

More notable for its vibrancy than its flaws, but the Klipsch is an acquired taste

Intriguing driver arrangement; positional flexibility; full-strength, energetic sound

Sub plods as the speakers sprint; tweeters lack refinement

Klipsch SW-450

A substantial-sounding subwoofer that's more than capable, but some rivals can handle complexity better

Substantial and weighty sound; understated looks

Can lose its way with more complex basslines

Just wow.

I have this paired with some polk monitor40's and it sound amazing. I am a college freshman and I live in a dormitory, needless to say I didn't need to tell anyone I got a 10" sub. With the sub around or just under half volume and my speakers all the...

-Great powerful bass -Auto on/off is nice.

-It's massive

Great sound. Good Punch.

Yes, would, and have recommended

Don't understand some of the negative reviews. Mine never sounds 'mushy'. Always a clean sound, with plenty of punch. Have a Denon AVR 5510BT 5.2 receiver pushing this subwoofer, along with a Klipsch Sub-10. 2 Kb-15, 2 KS-14, and a KC-25 center channel...

Soft, mushy, muddy, booming bass

Would not purchase again. Lighting fast order processing and shipping from Newegg (although I had a late delivery from OnTrac and my subwoofer was left at night alongside a road a mile from my home!).

Nicely styled enclosure Auto standby works well Sensible controls

My excitement for receiving this subwoofer ended just moments after plugging it in. I got this to replace a Boston Acoustics 8" budget sub that burned out after just over a year of use. It actually sounded pretty good and I was bummed to need to...

Awesome

Spend a little extra and get a quality sub! This one does not disappoint.

Just purchased via shell shocker for $179.00 what a steal! Hits very hard and sounds clean. Does not sound muddy like some of the less expensive sw on the market. Very large box but does not bother me. The design of the box is perfect if you have kids...

The most "Bang" for your "Bump..... >:3 see what I did there?!

HITS...HARD, Rich deep BASS That fills the room, beautiful design box, and at a crazy low price. I owned 1 for 3 years now, and once I saw this for more than 50% off it was a no brainer. Having one was amazing so having food means it has to be better....

That my neighbors in the lower and upper apartment have given me noise complains, not really sure if that's a con lol

Product Specifications

The SW-450 subwoofer uncovers what you've been missing in your music, movies and video games - clean, chest-thumping bass. It's an ideal companion for many of the front, center and surround speakers, whether you're looking to achieve a 5.1 system or a 5.1 on the Richter scale. Great sound begins with a great bottom end. The SW-450 subwoofer delivers the two lowest octaves of the ten humans can hear, intensifying your listening and viewing experiences. The SW-450 fills any room with big, clear bass, thanks to its powerful 10-inch driver and Class D amplifier. But if you really want to experience what this hard-hitter can do, be sure to place it in the corner of your room. In general, placing a subwoofer along the middle of the wall, or out in the room will decrease its output. In addition to its unparalleled performance, the SW-450 offers unmatched flexibility. A low pass crossover and variable phase control lets you effectively blend the subwoofer's low-frequency tones with other Klipsch speakers as well as establish a level of bass that's just right for your room. The SW-450 subwoofer is truly the way to go if you want to hear and feel your stereo or home theater entertainment.
