Sonos SUB Review

When you decide to pick up a Sonos speaker, you decide to jump into an ever-expanding ecosystem of both hardware and software, with a brand that's dead set on pushing an immersive experience out to the customer. With the newest member of the family,...

The Sonos SUB is a massively expensive subwoofer made to be part of the full wireless speaker family for an equally giant price: $699 right out of the box. You do get free shipping and unlimited support from Sonos, and we're to understand that there's...

Sonos Sub

For all of the quality, flexibility and whole-home hotness that goes into Sonos' wireless speakers, there was always something missing: bass. Not in absolute terms, mind you, since Sonos' speakers have always had relatively good bass performance,...

Powerful, potent bass for such a small sub ; Excellent extension and impact ; Force cancelling design eliminates unwanted vibrations ; Solid, inert design ; Easy to set up and use

Bass a little too thumpy at times ; No standard line inputs, i.e. only compatible with Sonos gear

Sonos finds some missing oomph with its Sub wireless subwoofer, a potent box of boom to round out the bottom of end of your Sonos system, no wires needed.

Bass Hit

Sonos has released a subwoofer to compliment its array of wireless Play speakers and Connect amps.

Sonos Sub

When I say the word subwoofer, what comes to mind? Is it a giant box in the corner of the room that rumbles when the dinosaur pads along the ground onscreen? Or the thing that shakes the door panels of cars at traffic lights? Arguably, neither of those...

The Sonos Sub has a unique, eye-catching design and its wireless function works from anywhere in a room (though it does have to be plugged in). It really augments the sound of your Play speakers and the setup is a breeze.

Its finish doesn't match any other Sonos components and the Sub doesn't work as well with the Connect: Amp. It's expensive and won't work outside of a Sonos system.

The Sonos Sub provides an instant upgrade to your Sonos Play speaker system, but it's quite pricey.

More Info Sonos' wireless Sub adds extra thump to your Sonos system for $700 (ears-on) Sonos Play:3 review Sonos S5 ears-on review: a

Deep, tight bass ; Easy setup ; Unique design

Very expensive ; Can't be used with non-Sonos gear ; Dust magnet

It's a lot to pay for a subwoofer that can't be used with non-Sonos hardware. If you can swing the cost, though, you'll get a tremendous boost to sound quality that integrates smoothly with a full Sonos network.

The latest addition to the Sonos family of products is the Sonos SUB, which is specifically designed to work with the company's speakers—the Play:3 and Play:5. Either of these can be paired with another speaker of the same model to create a stereo pair...

Sonos Sub review

Sonos, the company behind the multi-room wireless music system, has launched a wireless subwoofer to fit into any room, promising to boost the performance of the company's range of zone players instantly. But can it really be that easy? We've been...

Good bass, good design, easy setup

Big, expensive, maybe too loud

Stunning, but not for the fool hardy.

Sonos Sub review

The Sonos Sub wireless subwoofer is here to boost the bass on your existing Sonos setup, but is it worth the £600 price tag?

Simple set up ; Great industrial design ; Superb bass balance

Our verdict on the Sonos Sub is tricky. On one hand you've got a mouth-wateringly expensive accessory for an already pricey range of products. On the other, you've got a truly brilliant piece of audio engineering that will transform turn your living...
