Sonos Sub review

It's a lot to pay for a subwoofer that can't be used with non-Sonos hardware. If you can swing the cost, though, you'll get a tremendous boost to sound quality that integrates smoothly with a full Sonos network.

Deep, tight bassEasy setupUnique design

Very expensiveCan't be used with non-Sonos gearDust magnet

From our experience, the Sub is one of the better subwoofers in the field, wireless or otherwise. It adds forcefulness without turning the sound into mush. Making it worth the cash outlay is the challenge, even if it's much less of a problem than we...

Sonos Sub Review

Powerful, potent bass for such a small sub ; Excellent extension and impact ; Force cancelling design eliminates unwanted vibrations ; Solid, inert design ; Easy to set up and use

Bass a little too thumpy at times ; No standard line inputs, i.e. only compatible with Sonos gear

Considering all that it offers, we can heartily recommend the Sonos Sub. And yeah, we realize that, at $699, it ain’t cheap. But no other sub that we’re aware of combines such a small form factor with this kind of potent, high-quality bass in one heck...

Sonos Sub Review

Powerful, thunderous bass at highest levels. ; Subtle low-frequency anchoring at more modest volumes. ; User-controllable bass levels. ; Attractive design. ; Can sit vertically or be laid flat. ; Easy integration into existing Sonos systems.

Expensive. ; Large. ; Only works with Sonos speakers, cannot be physically connected to a subwoofer output.

The Sonos Sub, an expensive wireless subwoofer that's easy to adjust via app, isn't how you start a Sonos system, but it's a terrific addition to complete one.

Sonos Sub review: Sonos Sub

Sonos Sub

The ; has a unique, eye-catching design and its wireless function works from anywhere in a room (though it does have to be plugged in). It really augments the sound of your Play speakers and the setup is a breeze.

Its finish doesn't match any other Sonos components and the Sub doesn't work as well with the Connect: Amp. It's expensive and won't work outside of a Sonos system.

The Sonos Sub provides an instant upgrade to your Sonos Play speaker system, but it's quite pricey.

Review: Sonos Sub

Sonos has released a subwoofer to compliment its array of wireless Play speakers and Connect amps.

Sound is excellent, on par with the rest of Sonos’ speakers. Well-designed dual-driver subwoofer with dual class-D amps offer efficient and distortion-free boom. Sleek looks make the 16-inch-tall box disappear into your ultra-modern decor. Just over 6...

That’s a lot of Simoleons. The tall, square-shaped doughnut design can be too bulky for some rooms, even laid flat

Sonos Sub review

When I say the word subwoofer, what comes to mind? Is it a giant box in the corner of the room that rumbles when the dinosaur pads along the ground onscreen? Or the thing that shakes the door panels of cars at traffic lights? Arguably, neither of those...

The Sonos SUB is a massively expensive subwoofer made to be part of the full wireless speaker family for an equally giant price: $699 right out of the box. You do get free shipping and unlimited support from Sonos, and we’re to understand that there’s...
