Sony HT-CT770 Home Theater Soundbar

The Sony HT-CT770 is a thunderous-sounding soundbar thanks to its wireless subwoofer, but even with Bluetooth it's better with movies and games than it is with music.

Large, powerful sound field. Well-balanced with booming subwoofer. Excellent movie and video game audio. Built-in Bluetooth. Supports HDMI

Music sounds tinny with soundbar turned down. No simulated surround features

Sony's HT-CT770 soundbar packs a lot of features and a surprising amount of power into a sleek, streamlined package. Not only does it have built-in Bluetooth and include a wireless subwoofer like the Editors' Choice Sony HT-CT260 soundbar , but it can...

Sony HT-CT770 review

Sony is fighting its way back to prominence in the home audio segment. While the glory days of the Walkman may never return, the company has been making big moves lately, including the creation of a brand new portable speaker lineup, as well as...

Impressive, detailed sound for the price ; Wide stereo image ; Loaded with features ; Attractive design

Unit blocks TV remote in optimal sound position ; Bass can get too boom-y

In the battle for the best entry-level sound bar, the CT770 is a dangerous contender

Sony HT-CT770

Sony's 2.1 soundbar looks the part but falls flat on sound

Discreet design and solid build quality ; Extensive features and connections ; Loud and energetic sound

Lack of cohesion between soundbar and sub ; Hard edge to treble ; Bass could be tighter

On paper the HT-CT770 is a competition-killing soundbar with a superb range of features, plentiful connections and an alluring design, but its performance doesn’t quite live up to the promise.
