Sony SRS-P11Q Passive Speaker System

The Sony SRS-P11Q Passive Speaker System is a low-priced speaker system that requires no external power source.

Requires no batteries or power connections; low price; interchangeable faceplates.

No controls; very low volume levels; little bass.

The SRS-P11Q isn't designed to compete with most of the other products in this roundup. But it can be a satisfactory low-cost solution for undemanding uses, like playing soft music in your hotel room as you go to sleep.

Sony SRS-P11Q

Any MP3 player can become a stereo system with the Sony SRS-P11Q portable speakers. These handy speakers do not require batteries. You can take them camping or on a long car trip without worrying about running out of power. These are not as compact as...

These travel speakers feature a simple plug-n-play design, but Sony's site still offers a large variety of support, if needed. If you encounter any problems with your portable speakers, you can contact Sony through email, phone call or even online...

These were a great purchase for the price. I use them with my ipod when I travel or go to the beach. It is decent sound, light weight, and no batteries required. I also received a rebate from sony making the purchase and even better deal.

Nice for cheap speakers

I like these for travel. The audio is a little canned, but it's much better than similar sets in the same price range. I've paid as much or more for much lower quality sets.

Good Value, Easy to Use

Bulky, not very powerful

Good Things? And Sounds?Come In Small Packages

When it comes to external speakers for an iPod—or other MP3 player—there seems to be a virtually limitless selection. Many are made specifically for an iPod, through its signature docking connector, while others, like the Sony SRS P11Q speakers, are...

Product Specifications

Sony's SRS-P11Q are lightweight and distinctive, perfect for today's portable audio systems. Supports all iPod models and all computers with a headphone port. Bulky stereo systems are fast becoming relics of an earlier century, especially with speakers such as Sony's SRS-P11Q on the market. These passive speakers are designed to connect to a portable audio system, such as your iPod or MP3 player, yet still deliver the same clear, vivid tones as much larger speakers. In the meantime, the 2-1/4-inch speaker bodies fit unobtrusively on a bookshelf, dresser, or desk, and also store compactly in a backpack or suitcase when on the move. The speakers are lightweight and distinctive, with circular shapes and small bulbous feet that keep them from tipping over. Listeners with a flair for accessorizing will appreciate the interchangeable white and silver faceplates, which lets people match the speakers to their players. The speakers' audio derives from the 57 mm damper-less neodymium magnets, which produce a frequency response between 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The passive speakers also require no batteries, making them ideal for traveling or tailgating. The system comes with a stereo mini plug input and features 4 watts of maximum input power (2 watts x 2).
