Sony SRS-X7

Supports Airplay, Bluetooth, DLNA, and NFC. Good sound quality at most volumes.

Lackluster bass response and volume levels. Complicated AirPlay and DLNA setup.

The Sony SRS-X7 is a versatile Bluetooth speaker more noteworthy for its feature set than its sound quality.

Sony SRS-X7 review

Seeing a renaissance of sorts in consumer audio, Sony has redoubled its efforts in the market recently. Part of the company's new push is its latest line of portable speakers, the SRS-X series. The middle child of the new lineup, the SRS-X7, offers a...

Clear, balanced treble ; Potential for huge bass ; Feature packed/multiple ways to play ; Attractive design ; Portable and versatile

Operation can be sluggish ; Glosses over inner detail ; Occasional AirPlay drop-out ; Loses potency when unplugged

The X7 provided plenty of pleasant moments, showcasing a smooth and clear sound signature, and more power than its size would suggest.

Sony SRS-X7

In 2013, Sony put out a fine Bluetooth speaker, the SRS-BTX500 . In the US, it was a little pricey at $300, but it delivered impressive sound for its size and measured up well against competitors such as the Bose SoundLink Wireless II and Jawbone Big...

The Sony SRS-X7 has a sleek, minimalist design and allows you to stream audio wirelessly via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, with both AirPlay and DLNA support.

Somewhat pricey; Wi-Fi set-up isn't simple; battery life could be better; speaker vibrates with heavy bass at high volumes and can move around on smoother surfaces.

While the SRS-X7 can't beat the performance of competitors like the Bose SoundLink III, it's a nice portable wireless speaker that offers the flexibility of both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

This speaker offers a variety of connection options.

It struggles to be loud enough to fill a large room.

Airplay is a game changer! Bluetooth and wifi was the main reason I purchased this but it's even better than I could imagine. Rich full sound. Deep bass. Clear highs. I've listened to everything from edm and hip hop to npr and podcasts. Great portable...

Great sound

Was easy to set up. Fills the room with great sound, just be careful of the vibration.

The sound is big and will fill the room

vibrates a lot and have to be careful not to fall over

great speaker bad battery life tho

great sound and easy to use but the battery life is like 20 mins on the wireless at full charge so you will need to use it plugged in for more than a 1/2 hour or so but other than that thing is sick

bumps and loud easy to use

battery/wireless life
