Tannoy Mercury Vi review

‘If it ain't broke don't fix it' goes the saying, but no-one told Tannoy. Its affordable Mercury V speaker system blew my socks off back in 2012, but that hasn't stopped the company tinkering with the fifth-generation blueprint in a bid to further pimp...

Fantastic detail reproduction; smooth, easy sound; deep, agile bass; great value

Needs a touch more snap; sub not the easiest to integrate; uninspired design

Tannoy Mercury F4 review

Twin d'Appolito main drivers pack more punch at the price

Good dynamic expression ; Warm, restratined balance

A little warm and rich in lower-to-mid frequencies

Twin d'Appolito two-way is handsome enough, and delivers an engrossing and entertaining sound

Tannoy Mercury Vi

Tannoy raises the temperature with this superb Mercury speaker system

Highly detailed and cohesive sound ; Good sense of scale ; A lot of speaker for the money

Sugar Maple finish and dull design ; Subwoofer requires careful integration

Don’t let the looks deceive you – Mercury Vi is a superb performer, making it great value for money.

Stylish speakers that can add a very likeable sound to their resume, these are well worth auditioning

Solid presentation ; Detailed, clear sound ; Dynamically expressive ; Sturdy bass ; Elegant finish

Fussy with placement ; Harsh treble ; Short on finesse

Do the Tannoys have what it takes to run with the big dogs? In a nutshell, yes.

Tannoy Mercury V4i

An exciting, punchy listen – but there are compromises

Generous, well-controlled low frequencies ; Midrange clarity ; Pace and power

Treble can be coarse, can sound dislocated ; Not the last word in finesse

We don’t doubt they’ll find an audience. But their staunchly up-and-at-’em attitude (which puts them strongly at odds with Q Acoustics’ better-balanced 2050is), along with the rather dislocated, hard-edged treble, make the Tannoy Mercury V4is rather...
