Acer Aspire Switch 10 ( 64 GB)

There are many 10-inch and 11-inch hybrids to choose from right now if you've got about $400 to spend and realistic expectations of performance and storage capacity. Recent versions from Lenovo, Dell, and HP all offer Atom or Pentium-powered...

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 has a hybrid mechanism that actually works, and it has a decent keyboard and touchpad for such a small body.

The component-filled top half makes the system top heavy and prone to tipping over backwards. Performance feels sluggish for all-day use, and the default 32GB SSD will be too small for many.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is a budget hybrid that skips the more-common fold-back or button-clasp hinges and instead attaches its screen via a magnetic connection. It shares the same hardware limitations as other small hybrids, but can be easier to use.

Acer Switch 10 review: Right idea, wrong execution

Acer's Switch 10 convertible truly has a split personality. Its button-free release mechanism is a great idea, but the rest of the device doesn't match up as well.

Easy-to-detach display ; Keyboard faces back of display in tablet mode; faces up in presentation mode

Lots of bezel surrounding the display ; Stiff keyboard keys ; Mediocre battery life

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is a novel take on the 2-in-1 notebook/tablet hybrid, but both the tablet and the keyboard halves of the equation are mediocre, and the tablet's battery life is too short.

Two Cool

Little Windows Tablets like these are proving themselves to be quite the capable on-the-go productivity devices. They're rapidly becoming the netbooks of the '10s, only considerably more worthwhile.

Solid price point and feature set on a capable Windows tablet. Keyboard attachment and release system is best-in-class. Great portability

Would like to see a higher-resolution display. No rear-facing camera included; selfies only. With weight predominantly in the slate, design becomes top-heavy and prone to tipping over backwards when working in “laptop” mode

Acer Aspire Switch 10 review

Acer has a mixed history in the hybrid PC market. The company's early attempts, like the Aspire R7 convertible and the Iconia W700, offered quick processors and attractive displays at affordable prices. More recent entries like the TravelMate X313,...

Solid construction ; Sturdy docking hinge ; Light and slim ; Long battery life ; Microsoft Office 2013 included ; Runs cool and silent ; Good value

Small keyboard ; Lackluster display ; Poor 3D performance

The Acer Switch 10's thin profile, long battery life and low price make for an attractive package.

Acer Aspire Switch 10 review

The PC era is on its deathbed and manufacturers are reacting in experimental and interesting ways to evolve the market. The Acer Switch 10 is a multi-positional laptop-meets-tablet device, and while it's far from the first device to proposition such a...

Affordable Windows 8.1, decent screen viewing angle, magnetised docking mechanism works well, multi-position for varied use

Not as elegant as Lenovo Yoga solution, not HD resolution, deep trackpad depress, trackpad too far user-side, top-heavy in laptop form

Hands on: Acer Aspire Switch 10 review

A budget laptop-tablet hybrid that neither looks nor feels the part

Rather sleek design ; Sturdy snapping hinge ; Great starting price

Barely HD screen ; Tiny onboard storage

Acer Aspire Switch 10 review

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 - yes, that is how you spell it - is the brand's new four-in-one laptop-tablet hybrid. T3 went in for a closer look at the global launch event.

It's affordable ; It runs well ; It's versatile

Feels cheap ; Cramped keyboard ; Top-heavy as a laptop

We were pleasantly surpised with the look and build quality of the Switch 10, having found the majority of hybrid devices to be rather underwhelming in the past.
