Review Acer Iconia A1-810 Tablet

The new tablet icon? Acer's Iconia A1-810 is a 7.9-inch Android

Very good system performance; Decent camera at the back; Good build quality; Low system noise; Good speaker; Latest Android version

High energy consumption during idle; Inconvenient haptics; Weak GPS module; Comparatively low resolution

Acer does not try very hard to improve the performance and features of the current generation. New competitors will launch soon.

Acer Iconia A1-810

If you were thinking the Acer Iconia A1-810 is an iPad Mini replacement for Android fans, you'd be wrong. Sure, on the surface, the A1-810 aims to replicate the iPad Mini 's appeal, but in reality, it barks like a budget Android tablet .

The Acer Iconia A1-810 has a low price, runs the latest version of Android 4.2, and includes an expandable storage option and a Micro-HDMI port.

The tablet is thicker and heavier than other small tablets and uncomfortable to hold in one hand. Its screen could be brighter, and the front-facing camera takes washed-out, blurry photos.

The Acer Iconia A1-810 goes low on price, but the Google Nexus 7 costs about the same and is still the tablet to get with its sharper screen and more comfortable build.

Acer Iconica A1-810 review

Tablets have exploded on to the tech scene quite unlike any other product in the last few years. The Acer Iconica A1-810 can't perhaps be awarded with the same explosive level of anticipation compared to the levels raised by the announcements of the...

MicroSD card slot for expansion, runs well at this price point, budget iPad mini competitor, decent battery life

Lower resolution than some competitors, sunlight reflections from screen can make outdoor use tricky, 3G only available in 811 model (not available everywhere), plasticky build, 4:3 aspect ratio won't suit all apps

Even though the Acer Iconica A1-810 connects via Wi-Fi only - for 3G connectivity look at the A1-811 - it delivers plenty for its £175 price tag.

Acer Iconia A1-810 Android tablet

The Acer Iconia A1-810 is a low-cost, 7.9in Android tablet that offers good value for money

Reasonable performance ; Good value for money ; microSD card slot

Below average screen ; Thick design ; No 3G or 4G model in Australia

The Acer Iconia A1-810 is a low-cost, 7.9in Android tablet that shares many similarities to the Apple iPad mini. There's a few compromises including a below average screen and a thick design, but the Iconia A1 performs reasonably well overall and...

Acer Iconia A1-810 Android tablet (preview)

The Acer Iconia A1-810 is a 7.9in Android tablet that will compete directly against Apple's iPad mini

Competitive price tag ; microSD card slot ; Touch WakeUp feature

Thicker & heavier than iPad mini ; No 3G or 4G model in Australia ; No real standout feature

The Acer Iconia A1-810 is a low-cost, 7.9in Android tablet with a very competitive price tag. It could prove to be a good alternative to the iPad mini if you're on a budget.

The 7-8″ tablet market is a rather competitive one, with Apple and Asus at the top of the pile.

REVIEW: Acer Iconia A1-810 tablet

An extra optical inch sounds appealing but Acer's 7.9-inch Iconia A-810 tablet just doesn't measure up to the Android competition.

Acer Iconia A1-810 tablet - Initial Impressions

I do love a good hand sized tablet, which is probably why I use my Nexus 7 every single day and also why I'm probably going to get the new Nexus 7 when it appears in this country.?

I’ll be using this tablet day in day out over the next few weeks so if you’ve got any questions please let me know in the comments below.

Great value ; Larger screen than competition ; Latest version of Android ; Decent battery life ; Pre-installed apps are very useful ; 16 GB of inbuilt memory

the screen isn’t impressive

KitGuru says: The Iconia A1 is a great option for those people looking for a competitively priced low-end tablet and we’re willing to forgive the less than perfect screen considering the price point!

This

Fast 1.2ghz MTK Quad Core CPU, 1gb ddr3 memory, charges via mini usb port making it easier and cheaper to buy a replacement power adapter then the usual Mfg design prop adapters.

Could use 2gb ddr3 memory, as well as a 32gb ssd, and allow for bigger micro sd cards.
