Archos 101 G9

Smooth 1080p video playback. Includes an HDMI port and a kickstand. Archos-specific music and video player apps work well

Pedestrian design. Poor battery life. Still buggy, even with latest firmware update

The Archos 101 G9 is a functional, up-to-date Android tablet at a reasonable price, although it doesn't really stand out aside from 1080p file support.

Archos 101 G9 Review

The Archos 101 G9 offers plenty of features for $369, including a big 10.1-inch screen, Android Honeycomb, and even HDMI output. However, its poor build quality, short battery life, and high operating temperature make it a bad deal at any price. Users...

Inexpensive, Fast performance, HDMI output, Kickstand and remote control app

Dull screen, Poor build quality, Short battery life, Remote control app lacks volume setting, Runs hot

Archos 101 G9 (10.1-inch)

The tablet business is pretty cutthroat (just ask Hewlett-Packard), and with the release of the Amazon Kindle Fire just weeks away, it's only going to get scarier out there for would-be iPad competitors.

The Archos 101 G9 (8GB) runs 1080p video smoothly and has a good-quality screen, and its kickstand is a useful addition

The tablet is too large for what it offers and has awkward button placement. Also, its single camera had poor recording quality

The Archos 101 G9 (8GB) delivers a complete Honeycomb experience, but its rough design, low-quality camera, and awkward button placement make it feel rushed to market.

Archos 101 G9

Archos 101 G9 is an Android Honeycomb tablet with a 10.1-inch XGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi and optional 3G connectivity, 16GB of flash storage (250GB hard drive is also an option), GPS, compass, Bluetooth, 720p front-facing camera and a super-fast dual-core...

Verizon 4G LTE network is incredibly fast, 32GB microSD card included, Integrated kickstand works in portrait and landscape

Battery life is among the worst weve ever seen, No 4G LTE power toggle option, Kickstand in landscape orientation blocks microUSB port

Archos 101 G9 Android Tablet Review

Archos are back with an updated "Gen 9" version of the 101 Android tablet. Featuring Android 3.2.1 and updated specifications can it offer something worthwhile in an ever more crowded market?

The Archos 101 G9 is a dual-core, Android 3.2 tablet with a 10 inch high resolution screen for under £250, that in itself is impressive. Of course this does mean that there are areas of the unit which are not quite up to the standard of more expensive...

GOOD FOR GAMING!

Archos 101 G9

News flash! The last thing the world needs is yet another entry-level, me-too Android tablet. But that hasn't stopped adventurous tech companies from trying to carve out a space in this highly competitive market.

Low price for a 10-inch slate ; Good display quality ; Excellent multimedia apps

Cheap look and feel ; No rear camera ; Poor recording quality from front-facing camera

This inexpensive tablet has a surprisingly good screen and a wealth of media-storage and -playback options. Its poor camera recording, cheap construction, and tightly packed ports may leave you wanting more, however.

Archos 101 G9 Review

It seems like every company out there is trying to put out a tablet now a days, and Archos is no different. With so many different ten inch tablets coming in costing more than $400 mark, [...]

Easily one of the best video players I’ve had the opportunity to use on a tablet ; Such a low price point for a decent tablet will encourage more people to jump on the tablet bandwagon ; The “kick stand” on the rear of the G9 is perfect for watching...

Only 512 MB of RAM really means that performance takes a hit at times ; The button placement is extremely awkward, and the outer casing is a bit bigger than it really needs to be ; While the 3G Stick is a great idea, it would have been nice to see it...

If you’re in the market for a tablet that is cheap, and incredibly good at playing videos of all kinds (and is at least decent at most other tablet tasks), then look no further – if you’re going to be doing things that eat up RAM though I would look...

Why the Archos 101 G9 and 80 G9 Are Ultra-cheap [With Hands-on Photos]

Archos announced its two upcoming ninth-generation tablets last week in Paris and the whole world was mesmerized by the Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9 prices, which are practically ultra-cheap.... The more precise term would be “value for money.”

Archos 101 G9 review

Archos were making "tablets" before the majority of manufacturers had even considered it. It had large screen devices before the birth of the iPad and before Android even existed. Of course they were called portable media players in those days, and it...

Plays pretty much every video format, HDMI, 3G option is inventive

Build quality, design, display, some software foibles, battery issues, failure to play Flash video

For multimedia consumers this tablet could work very well. We think the optional 3G dongle is a great idea, and we also like the option to buy a 250GB version. The build quality is a concern though, and that headphone socket is unforgivable.

Archos 101 G9 review

Archos waves its magic media wand yet again, this time producing a full Honeycomb tablet

Tempting price ; Full Android 3.2 Honeycomb support ; Great for video playback ; Good battery life

Plasticy chassis ; Budget screen ; Awful camera ; Uninspired performance

The potential problem is we're about to be bombarded by cut price tablets, and much better units can be had for this kind of cash - tablets with more memory, built from better materials and generally put together with more love.
