Archos 101 G9

This Archos 101 G9 is a 10-inch Android Honeycomb tablet that's packed with multimedia features for a reasonable price.

Inexpensive ; Fast performance ; HDMI output ; Kickstand and remote control app

Dull screen ; Poor build quality ; Short battery life ; Remote control app lacks volume setting ; Runs hot

The Archos 101 G9 offers plenty of features for $369, including a big 10.1-inch screen, Android Honeycomb, and even HDMI output. However, its poor build quality, short battery life, and high operating temperature make it a bad deal at any price. Users...

Archos 101 G9 Turbo (250GB)

Spell it trouble for the smaller players. Several makers of premium Android tablets—notably, Asus, Acer, and Samsung—have recently released lower-cost, entry-level versions of their higher-priced, top-of-the-line products. Some of them, such as the...

Massive storage for tablet ; Good-looking screen ; Above-average media-playback apps ; Lots of ports and connectivity options

Poor video capturing ; Heavy and bulky ; Cheap-looking and -feeling plastic case

Massive storage and lots of connectivity options make this an attractive slate for the price, especially for video playback—if you're willing to overlook a few serious design flaws and a poor-performing video camera.

Archos 101 G9 Turbo review

Archos has always had a focus on video-optimized and flexible hardware, since long before their “tablets” started shipping with Android. With the current generation of mobile hardware, they can add even more media prowess to their utilitarian designs –...

Archos tablets are strange beasts, cousins to the ASUS Transformer tablets in their focus on capability over style. They’re also cheaper, though not by much in the case of the 101 G9 Turbo. The component upgrades are enough to make it worth the extra...

Archos 101 G9 Android Tablet Review

Archos are back with an updated "Gen 9" version of the 101 Android tablet. Featuring Android 3.2.1 and updated specifications can it offer something worthwhile in an ever more crowded market?

The Archos 101 G9 is a dual-core, Android 3.2 tablet with a 10 inch high resolution screen for under £250, that in itself is impressive. Of course this does mean that there are areas of the unit which are not quite up to the standard of more expensive...

Archos 101 G9

News flash! The last thing the world needs is yet another entry-level, me-too Android tablet. But that hasn't stopped adventurous tech companies from trying to carve out a space in this highly competitive market.

Low price for a 10-inch slate ; Good display quality ; Excellent multimedia apps

Cheap look and feel ; No rear camera ; Poor recording quality from front-facing camera

This inexpensive tablet has a surprisingly good screen and a wealth of media-storage and -playback options. Its poor camera recording, cheap construction, and tightly packed ports may leave you wanting more, however.

Archos 101 G9 Review

It seems like every company out there is trying to put out a tablet now a days, and Archos is no different. With so many different ten inch tablets coming in costing more than $400 mark, [...]

Easily one of the best video players I’ve had the opportunity to use on a tablet ; Such a low price point for a decent tablet will encourage more people to jump on the tablet bandwagon ; The “kick stand” on the rear of the G9 is perfect for watching...

Only 512 MB of RAM really means that performance takes a hit at times ; The button placement is extremely awkward, and the outer casing is a bit bigger than it really needs to be ; While the 3G Stick is a great idea, it would have been nice to see it...

If you’re in the market for a tablet that is cheap, and incredibly good at playing videos of all kinds (and is at least decent at most other tablet tasks), then look no further – if you’re going to be doing things that eat up RAM though I would look...

DO NOT BUY ARCHOS!!!

I bought a 101 G9 back in February, and it was fine up until about a month and half ago, when the screen started to go fuzzy. I sent it in to be fixed, and today, over a month since being sent in, it is not fixed and returned. Archos customer service...

Charging problems

Bought this unit in May 2012. Love it! Had a few issue with apps freezing, slow charge, no charge, typical Android stuff. Finally failed to charge at all. Working with tech support now on RMA. I'll report back on the tech support experience.
