Archos 70 (250GB)

The Archos 70 Android tablet includes a capable 1GHz processor, capacitive 7-inch touch screen, front-facing camera, Bluetooth, HDMI output capability, and up to 250GB of storage.

The tablet is generally sluggish, build quality feels cheap, viewing angles are crummy, and the app store is thinly stocked.

The Archos 70 offers more horsepower and features than any other tablet under $300, but its limitations make it more of a toy than a tool.

Archos 70 and 101 Internet Tablet review

We've seen our fair share of budget tablets from the Augens, Cobys, and Viewsonics of the world over the last six months, but let's not forget that before everyone and their mother jumped into the cheap-o Android tablet pool, Archos was already in the...

Very thin and light ; Responsive capacitive touchscreen ; Great media playback

Crappy LCD with poor viewing angles ; Hardware feels cheap ; Sluggish at times

Archos 70 (8GB) – Low priced tablet

Archos 70 has a seven inch capacitive touch screen and it does have some qualities in its favor. The LCD has a resolution of 800x480 pixels and photos and movies look great on it. The details are crisp with well balanced color. Viewing angles aren't...

That said, I think that the Archos 70 is a really good tablet in a lot of ways. Under the hood, there is 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU (which is clocked down to 800MHz out of the box), and for improved performance in gaming, there is 3D OpenGL ES 2.0 graphic...

"great device for the price"

I love my Archos 70 an I think most people would be happy with it for what is does. It's a great video player,e book reading, music playing, web surfing son of a gun....lol. Great price...pick it up!

price on this is great for what you get.great video play back on all apps(netflix, slingbox)and more. The 2.2 android update and the big Archos community fan site makes it very easy to customize. The hdmi mirror output is great for games on the big screen t

app space is very small.need better web site support from ARCHOS as to when and if there will be an update to at least android 2.3(or whatever gingerbread is)

The best tablet $275 can buy

One thing to take into consideration when you watch the CNET review is that it was made 5 months after the 70 was released so of course it didn't run the latest Android. I've had mine since Dec 2010 which means it's coming close to a year and overall I...

250gb drive, varied video format support, price and is surprisingly durable

Can be slow at times. the music player needs some work (no genres, breaks up compilation/soundtracks into individual artists)

"Excellent Hardware, Hassle to root"

The cons I listed above with the price I paid CompUSA then (about $300) made it unjustifiable for me to keep. Maybe those issues can be resolved now, but I moved on...

Thin and light.

Only available root method (some months ago when I had) was from very secretive guy/group, and raised serious questions about safety (security wise) and reliability.

The cons I listed above with the price I paid CompUSA then (about $300) made it unjustifiable for me to keep. Maybe those issues can be resolved now, but I moved on... BTW, the lowball prices listed here by CNET are for the reader version, the 70C,...

Thin and light ; Kickstand built in

Only available root method (some months ago when I had) was from very secretive guy/group, and raised serious questions about safety (security wise) and reliability ; Could not tether it with my cell phone

Great for the Price

I have the 16GB version so I don't have to worry about shock like I do with a hard drive. I managed to get the full android market on it and it works great. yay Angry Birds :D. It's also great as a video and music player, surfing the web, and just...

Cheap, can use a blu tooth keyboard, can use blu took to share data from your phone, great screen, and you can get Andriod Market on it

No GPS, area around the screen smudges and is hard to clean, Installing Android Market requires some effort and a little help from the Archos Community Forums
