Archos 101 ( 8GB)

The Archos 101 is one of few Android 2.2 tablets with a large 10.1-inch screen. Extras such as a front-facing camera, Mini-HDMI output, USB host and sync ports, and microSD memory expansion are impressive considering the tablet's low price.

Charging requires wall adapter, screen quality and responsiveness are mediocre; onscreen keyboard is awkward; not fully compatible with Adobe Flash; lacks support for Android Market and Google Mobile apps, such as Maps, Navigation, Contacts, and Calendar.

The Archos 101 tablet's price is right and the screen is ample, but the experience is outdated and performance is sluggish.

Archos G9 101

Android Honeycomb, a decent screen and sub-£300 price. Should the Galaxy Tab 10.1 be worried?

Reasonable screen ; Superb video support ; Decent value

Unattractive ; Intermittently buggy

The practical approach doesn't always take the user experience into account enough, though - there are downsides other than not being able to feel smug and superior just by holding it. When held "normally", in landscape orientation with the Archos logo...

Archos - 101 internet tablet

Given the success of the iPad, it was only a matter of time before Archos put all the touchscreen experience i has gained from making MP3 players, portable media devices and netbooks to use in a ...

The Archos 101 is slim, light, offers an excellent range of support and connectivity and comes at a very reasonable price. Though it drops points to some rivals when it comes to display response and clarity, this isn't serious enough to undermine it...

great for the $$

I got this for my 6 year old for Christmas to play games. At first i was disappointed, but the app site was down, not the tablet's issue, as it first appeared. It runs applications easily, has plenty of download space, connects quickly to the internet,...

Very limited

I was disappointed with this tablet. It could not have its operating system updated to the latest Android Honeycomb, and could not load some desired apps like Netflix. I called Archos and asked them if they would ever update the operating system to run...

Very good item.

So far I have had no issues with this unit. I use it to update web sites and the Bible program is great. The extra attachments that can be used is great. memory cards, usb fire wire all work great. Would like to use Android 3.0 on it for more use.

Archos - 101 Internet Tablet - 8GB Running Google ANDROID + Wi-Fi (501590)

I got this for Mom so she could read books. I figured for a little more she could also cruise the web and check her email without leaving her couch. Of course she's addicted to mahjong and solitaire now. I've used it to watch movies and it worked...

Price. Screen size. USB port. Kickstand. Angry Birds is cool on a 10" screen

Periodically I have to recalibrate the screen. Sometimes it locks up. Not too bad, but gets an egg

Great WiFi Tablet running FroYo (2.2.1)

This is a great wi-fi only tablet with good options and features. My number one priority was to find a tablet that was being supported and improved by the manufacturer. Archos was the only manufacturer with a unit under $300 that I could find that...

Manufacturer Support - 14 firmware updates since initial release, including Android 2.1 to 2.2. Customer support is responsive and knowledgeable ; Battery Life - is good in most cases...some games will drain it faster ; Size - Perfect for landscape...

WiFi - When you setup a connection, make sure that you check the Powersave Disabled box, otherwise it will keep turning off your connection (which gave me problems syncing up arctools.) ; Android Marketplace not installed - You have to install this...
