Asus Transformer Pad TF701T

My initial reaction to seeing the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T for the first time was disappointment. The tablet looks and feels like the Transformer Prime , which game out two years ago, and I'm surprised Asus hasn't made any significant design changes...

The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T has great gaming performance, useful app extras, a sharp screen, and a microSD storage expansion option.

The tablet is unnecessarily large and seems like an outdated design. The screen's color gamut is limited and cameras produce grainy, unbalanced images. The keyboard dock feels cramped to type on.

Despite its bulky design, the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T is one of the best 10-inch Android tablet values available, but it's worth your time to also look closely at its competition.

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T Review

ASUS' Transformer Pad TF701T packs Tegra 4 power and a brilliant high-res screen in a 10-inch Android tablet, but you'll have to pay more for the keyboard.

Brilliant high-res display; Great multitasking software; Fast performance; Impressive audio

Pricey with keyboard; A bit heavier than competing tablets

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T review: A productive Android tablet/keyboard combo

The 10.1-inch Android-based Transformer Pad TF701T has a decent specification, including a quad-core processor, a high-resolution screen and good battery life from its tablet and keyboard batteries. The design could use a refresh though.

Excellent 10.1-inch screen ; USB 3.0 port, plus SD and MicroSD slots ; Tablet and keyboard batteries deliver long life

Top-heavy build ; Proprietary power connector ; No mobile broadband option

ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T review: Full throttle

From the makers of the Nexus 7, which pretty much got Android back in the tablet game, a convertible 10.1" slate is ready to step out of the living room and shake off the stay-at-home, only-good-for-media-consumption image of ten-inchers.

10.1" LED-backlit IGZO Super IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 16M colors, 300ppi pixel density ; Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box ; 1.9 GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, 72-core ULP GeForce GPU, 2GB of RAM,...

No 3G, LTE ; Mobile dock feels a bit flimsy ; Bigger and heavier than its rivals ; Proprietary 32-pin connector ; Disappointing audio quality

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T Android tablet

Has Asus made its adored tablet even better with its latest Transformer?

Outstanding screen ; Good connectivity ; Long battery life

Keyboard needs more refining

There is a lot to like about the new Asus Transformer Pad. It is powerful, has a fantastic screen and offers the additional functionality of a keyboard and trackpad. But all of this comes at a price.

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T review

Is it a laptop? Is it a tablet? The Asus Transformer Pad TF701 straddles the divide between the two forms, marrying together an Android tablet and keyboard dock into the one affordable device.

Great 10.1-inch screen resolution and viewing angles, solid build quality, included keyboard dock, good battery life, fair price

Small trackpad, doesn’t quite feel like a laptop replacement, no 3G/4G connectivity option, reflective screen

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T review

The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T isn't the cheapest Android slate around, but it comes with a super high-definition display, loads of power and a handy keyboard dock for typing. If you want an Android tablet for work and play, the Transformer Pad is a...

Bright, bold, high-definition display ; Loads of power ; Keyboard dock makes typing more comfortable

Pricey ; Chunky and heavy ; Charges only with included cable ; Uninspiring design

A seriously powerful tablet with the added benefits of a keyboard dock

With a screen that rivals the Google Nexus 10 for clarity, ample performance and a near Vanilla Android experience, Asus has produced a fantastic Android tablet with the TF701T. Whether or not you need the dock will determine whether it’s the right...

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T review

Asus has added a 2560 x 1600 display and Tegra 4 grunt to its flagship slate – but is this keyboard-equipped tablet a racing stallion or a plodding workhorse?

Fully integrated keyboard dock and trackpad Gorgeous 2560 x 1600 display Ridiculous battery life Blazing fast Tegra 4 processor

Chunky bezel Plastic dock feels cheap Limited apps for 10in Android tablets

Its beastly battery life, full keyboard, proper ports and an amazing display make the Transformer Pad a lot smarter than your average tablet

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T

The laptop-replacing tablet returns, now with Tegra 4 power

Super-sharp screen ; Powerful processor

Chunky screen bezel ; Slight occasional lag ; Highly reflective screen

and its kickstand design is more practical in certain situations.
