Review Asus VivoTab Smart ME400C Tablet

The compatible one. No matter whether iOS, Android or Windows RT, all operating systems have their quirks when it comes to the compatibility with the standard Windows 7 or Windows 8 versions. Asus' VivoTab Smart might eliminate these restrictions owing...

Bright, viewing angle stable and high-contrast screen, Good touch features with reliable feedback, Good battery life, Far-reaching Windows compatibility, Windows 8 on a tablet. That works quite well and is as functional as a Swiss pocketknife

Fiddly micro interfaces, Hardware button with moderate feedback, Partly outdated performance for Windows 8, Matching cords and adapters for the micro interfaces. Also, the graphics solution for Windows 8 could have a bit more power and above all a...

Asus VivoTab Smart ME400C

The Asus VivoTab Smart ME400C is aimed at the budget shopper who wants a full Windows 8 slate tablet, but it won't replace your laptop.

Relatively cheap. Multiple colors available. Windows 8. Decent battery life

Cheap plastic construction. Wimpy speakers. Limited port selection requires adapters for usability. Accessories, like cover and keyboard, not yet available

If there's one area that Windows tablets have failed, it's in giving the budget-conscious shopper something worth buying. Even lower-powered tablets and laptop/tablet hybrids are priced like a full-featured ultrabook, while failing to deliver...

ASUS VivoTab Smart Review

ASUS' VivoTab Smart has some things going for it. It features a crisp display, long battery life and the ability to run both modern-style Windows 8 apps and traditional desktop apps for the same price as the more limited Micorsoft Surface with Windows...

Long-lasting battery, Impressive camera app, Very aggressive price, Twice the storage of competing Windows 8 tablets

Plastic design, Desktop apps can be slow to open, Lacks full-size USB port, Keyboard and cover not lap friendly

Full Windows experience, compact and light, well-built, upgradable storage via microSD

Can be sluggish, not enough RAM, Windows 8 is confusing here and RT would have been simpler

There's so much to consider here that it's almost enough to make your head melt. First, there's the price - £400 is reasonable for a tablet, especially one as flexible as this. At the same time though, laptops are cheaper and offer more power. And...

Asus VivoTab Smart

Full Windows 8 operating system, 8MP rear camera, Light and comfortable to use, Cheap for a Windows 8 tablet

Low quality internal speakers, Low resolution screen, Frustrating to use without a bluetooth keyboard, No USB connection out of the box, Build quality could be better

We've reviewed quite a few tablets here at AVForums, the majority using the Android OS but a couple of iPads as well. They've varied in looks, design, specification and performance, ranging from the top draw iPad down to a sub £250 Toshiba AT300. As...

Asus VivoTab Smart

Beautiful screen, Well built, A pleasure to hold, Decent battery life

Poor sound, Occasional performance hiccups

For those holding out for a full Windows 8 tablet that’s capable of running regular Windows 8 programmes, the Asus VivoTab Smart is what you are looking for. With an LTE version available as well (not tested here), as far as Windows 8 tablets go, the...

Great warranty

Great Tablet, no problems. I dropped it and broke the touchscreen and since I had the extended warranty they gave me a gift card to replace it!!! I told them that I broke it!! and they still replaced it. WOW

If you erase the recovery partition (to recover the hard drive space), you cannot reinstalled to operating system thru the USB

Tablet would not turn on

I purchased this tablet from New Egg on 7/18/14 and updated to Windows 8.1. It worked fine for a few days and now it would not turn on. I connected the charger and the the orange light turns on but it would not boot. When I press the power button, the...
