Dell XPS 10 Review

With the introduction of Windows 8, it seems almost every computer manufacturer is making its own laptop-tablet hybrid, which, in most cases, is just a tablet with a snap-on keyboard. Asus was the first to create Android tablets with dedicated keyboard...

Covered in soft-touch paint for fingerprint-free handling ; Included dongles for full-sized USB and HDMI ports ; Good battery life ; Touchscreen and keyboard make Windows RT usable ; Keyboard dock doubles battery life and adds expansion ports

Heavy for a mobile device ; Shallow and small keys ; Awkward location of micro USB port ; Expensive ; Average screen resolution

It's a shame that a perfectly decent device is bogged down by the still-glitchy Windows RT.

Dell XPS 10

The Dell XPS 10 Windows RT-equipped convertible tablet will truly last all day and most of the night (and certainly cover the longest flight in the world). It has a very small-capacity C: drive, but if your digital life is truly in the cloud, the XPS...

Very portable. Over 20 hours of battery life with dock. Can trickle charge with micro-USB. Comfortable keyboard dock. Speakers built into dock

Limited Windows RT app library. Can't install older Windows apps. Can't install third-party browser. Local storage a bit small

If you think you need to carry all of your digital files (especially videos and multimedia) with you at all times, stop reading this and go read a review for a more power user-oriented system. Still here? Okay, the Dell XPS 10 ($679.99 bundled with...

Dell XPS 10 (Windows RT)

If you're reading this review of the Dell XPS 10, you either have already considered or will in the very near future consider the Microsoft Surface RT first. It's simply an overall better tablet value, thanks to its slightly wider screen, better build...

The Dell XPS 10 includes expandable storage and a depressible Windows button, and its $180 keyboard features plenty of useful ports as well as an extra battery.

There are a few annoying performance bugs. The base tablet doesn’t have as many ports as the Surface RT. It lacks a kickstand and its keyboard isn’t as comfortable to type on.

The Dell XPS 10 is a valiant effort at a Windows RT tablet but doesn’t pack enough value into its base package to favorably compete with the Surface RT.

Dell XPS 10 Tablet

The Dell XPS 10 was one of the most reasonably priced convertible tablets we tested. It can function as a standalone 10-inch tablet by itself, or it can be docked with a full keyboard for greater functionality and better battery life (up to 18 hours)....

Windows RT-toting mini tablet with keyboard dock

Great battery ; Top price

Heavy ; Cramped ; Lacking in power

The Dell XPS 10 is one of the finest Windows RT devices we've seen, and comes at an attractive price.

Dell XPS 10 Tablet review - basic Windows 8 RT tablet has great battery life

What, if anything, can the Dell XPS 10 Tablet do to sell itself when its category could be dying? Its saving grace could be its innovative design, which features batteries in both the tablet and dock. When the two halves are married, the XPS 10...

The XPS 10 is a decent implementation of a Windows 8 RT hybrid tablet, though that isn't necessarily saying much. The run time with the dock is simply spectacular, however, and the versatility of the two-part design could make up for other...

If you put work before play, this tablet hybrid makes a practical alternative to a netbook

Dell XPS 10 reviewBecause Windows 8 is a combination of tablet-style touchscreen interface and a traditional Windows desktop, it makes sense for Windows 8 portables to follow the furrow ploughed by

Does the Microsoft Surface have a worthy Windows RT rival in this convertible?

Soft-touch materials throughout ; Stylish looks ; Great keyboard dock ; Excellent battery life

Poor build quality at tablet’s rear ; Can get ‘proper’ Windows 8 for this price ; No optional digitizer stylus

Thankfully, the same doesn’t apply to the dock, which is superbly built all-round. The metal hinge in which it holds the tablet is nicely crafted, and the tab locks securely into place with an audible click. Detaching the Dell XPS 10 tablet is simple...
