Review Dell XPS 10 Tablet

Marathon Tablet. After Asus, Microsoft and Samsung, the spotlight now shines on Dell's Windows RT tablet PC. The XPS 10 proves to be a long-lasting performer which makes traditional notebooks look outdated, especially in terms of battery life. However,...

Precise touchscreen; High-quality workmanship; Nice performance; Intuitive interface; Good battery life; Low temperature emissions

Display only offers HD-ready resolution; Current price; Full-sized USB port in the dock or with adapter; Performance has room for improvement

The precision of the touchscreen which enables fluid input

Dell XPS 10 (Windows RT)

If you're reading this review of the Dell XPS 10, you either have already considered or will in the very near future consider the Microsoft Surface RT first. It's simply an overall better tablet value, thanks to its slightly wider screen, better build...

The Dell XPS 10 includes expandable storage and a depressible Windows button, and its $180 keyboard features plenty of useful ports as well as an extra battery.

There are a few annoying performance bugs. The base tablet doesn’t have as many ports as the Surface RT. It lacks a kickstand and its keyboard isn’t as comfortable to type on.

The Dell XPS 10 is a valiant effort at a Windows RT tablet but doesn’t pack enough value into its base package to favorably compete with the Surface RT.

"Both the XPS 10 & Win8 RT have exceeded expectations"

Having used for a week now I understand where Microsoft have gone with

Light and nice to hold.It has 2 good camera's. Very reliable so far.Can stream music directly from my Zune account over WiFi, through bluetooth to my stereo receiver.Battery lasting 3 days of moderate usage before it needs charging.Very happy so far.

Current lack of accessories such as a docking station (other than keyboard dock) or a cover.Hoping these will come.

Great little tablet

With friends and coworkers who have the Surface, I find the XPS10 to be superior. That's why I ordered it instead of the Surface. (Now, I said "Surface" not "Surface Pro". The Surface Pro is in an entirely different category, and price range. This...

Fast (noticeably faster than the MS Surface), nice screen, clean design, SD card expansion. It's great for just about everything I use on a tablet, and many things I only thought I'd do with a PC

Storage is a bit low, but that's to be expected on a tablet. Can't store more than a few movies on it. I bring along three 32GB SD cards to hold all my 720p movies when I travel

Windows RT-toting mini tablet with keyboard dock

Great battery ; Top price

Heavy ; Cramped ; Lacking in power

The Dell XPS 10 is one of the finest Windows RT devices we've seen, and comes at an attractive price.

If you put work before play, this tablet hybrid makes a practical alternative to a netbook

Dell XPS 10 reviewBecause Windows 8 is a combination of tablet-style touchscreen interface and a traditional Windows desktop, it makes sense for Windows 8 portables to follow the furrow ploughed by

Is this laptop-tablet hybrid a transformative experience?

Long battery life; Lightweight; Comfortable keyboard; Office 2013 included

Creaky, uninspiring build quality; Oversensitive touchpad; Occasionally sluggish performance

The Dell XPS 10 comes closest to the perfect union of tablet and laptop, but it's still not perfect due to its performance, touchpad issues and the continuing lack of apps.

Does the Microsoft Surface have a worthy Windows RT rival in this convertible?

Soft-touch materials throughout ; Stylish looks ; Great keyboard dock ; Excellent battery life

Poor build quality at tablet’s rear ; Can get ‘proper’ Windows 8 for this price ; No optional digitizer stylus

Thankfully, the same doesn’t apply to the dock, which is superbly built all-round. The metal hinge in which it holds the tablet is nicely crafted, and the tab locks securely into place with an audible click. Detaching the Dell XPS 10 tablet is simple...

Dell XPS 10 review

The XPS 10 is Dell's first Windows RT tablet. It's a 10.1in slate with accompanying keyboard dock that turns it into a miniature laptop when you need more than a touchscreen. It's available without the dock, but as we'll explain this is the most...

A Windows RT tablet with ample battery life, but some build quality concerns

Dell XPS 10 review

With its tidy keyboard dock, the Dell XPS 10 should be the ideal combination of tablet and laptop. But the dock is an expensive extra and the tablet itself is seriously let down by build quality issues, not to mention its inability to install standard...

Relatively affordable price ; Good battery life ; Screen provides good colours

Awful build quality ; Keyboard dock is an expensive extra ; Uninspiring design ; Windows 8 RT app store is poorly stocked

Tablets with keyboard docks are certainly a handy way of combining the touch interaction of a tablet with the ease of typing of a keyboard. Unfortunately, the XPS 10 fails to impress. Its poor build quality, uninspiring design, average performance and...
