Review Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet

A balancing act. The Surface Pro is an interesting concept tablet that Microsoft developed to showcase the strength of the Windows 8 platform on a touch-capable device. This is another Wintel collaboration that is able to use the ecosystem of apps...

Very good tablet performance ; High contrast and bright display ; Multi-touch + pen entry ; Very good case quality ; Integrated display support (kickstand) ; USB 3.0 + DisplayPort ; Magnetic power connection ; Power supply with USB port

Available storage capacity (64GB version) ; Cooling fan is clearly audible when utilized ; Heavy weight ; Low camera resolution ; Moderate battery life

Microsoft Surface Pro review

The Core i5-based Surface Pro combines ultrabook components with a (chunky) 10.6in. tablet form factor to deliver decent performance and excellent build quality. However, a few design issues, missing features and, above all, disappointing battery life...

Solid, elegant hardware design ; Runs Windows 8 Pro and legacy software ; Ultrabook-level performance ; Supports pressure-sensitive pen input

Disappointing battery life ; Kickstand isn't adjustable ; No desktop or keyboard dock available ; Desktop scaling issues when used with a large external monitor ; Lacks GPS and NFC ; No mobile broadband option ; Stylus needs a storage location within...

Despite its increased bulk, weight and remaining design issues, the Surface Pro — like the RT — has a classy overall look and feel. One of the goals of the Surface range is to provide an exemplary showcase for Windows 8, and in this Microsoft has...

Microsoft Surface Pro review

I've been waiting to review the Microsoft Surface Pro for a long time. When I decided to make the switch to Windows 8, I did a pretty thorough survey of the computing landscape, and Microsoft's second Surface seemed like it might be the one for me.

Fast, consistent performance ; Handsome and well-made ; Fantastic display

Poor battery life ; Heavy and thick ; Really hard to actually use on your lap

It tries to do everything, but misses doing anything really well

Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro (64GB)

On February 9, the Surface gets another lease on life. This version, known as the Surface Pro, tackles head-on many of the complaints about the original Surface RT -- especially that model's compromised Windows RT operating system. The Surface Pro...

The Microsoft Surface Pro fits a full ultrabook experience in a compact 10-inch tablet. Thanks to the ingenious Type and Touch covers, it offers a comfortable interface and typing experience. The clean, crisp design and sharp 1080p screen rise above...

The battery life is disappointing, and more ports would be nice. The 64GB model barely has any free storage. It costs as much as a regular laptop, especially because the cool keyboard cover isn't included by default.

The Surface Pro's gutsy design successfully reinvents the Windows 8 laptop by cramming an ultrabook experience into the body of a 10-inch tablet. Those wanting to go all-in on the tablet experience won't regret buying the Surface Pro, but we're holding...

Microsoft Surface Pro

The Microsoft Surface Pro delivers Ultrabook performance and a full HD screen in a tablet design, but short battery life holds it back.

Fast boot time; Ultrabook power with Core i5; Attractive design; Sharp and bright 1080p display

Short battery life; Keyboard not included; Must store stylus on outside of tablet; Poor camera quality

Click to EnlargeAre tablets the future of mobile computing? Yes, but as the Microsoft Surface Pro demonstrates, there's a long way to go before the right balance is struck between speed and endurance. While we like its design and Core i5 performance,...

Microsoft Surface Pro Review

There's clearly interest in a device that converges the tablet and notebook. ASUS saw some of the earliest success in this department with its Transformer line of Android tablets. Once the first Windows RT/8 designs started appearing, it became clear...

Microsoft Surface Pro

The Surface Pro looks like a tablet, but it's not a mobile device. It's a portable device.

Sleek and well-designed hardware. Sharp, beautiful touchscreen. Speedy performance. Runs all legacy Windows desktop applications. Great pressure-sensitive pen. Additional USB port on the charger so you can charge your phone at the same time. Type Cover...

Lacking in usable storage space. Short on battery life. Non-adjustable kickstand becomes a burden with long-term use. Pricey; you’ll need to drop extra money on several accessories (mouse, keyboard cover, external storage). Too hot, heavy and thick to...

Microsoft Surface Pro

The Surface Pro is a powerhouse of processing power, but it would be better suited as a laptop.

Full version of Windows 8; 4GB Ram, Core i5 Processor

False advertising on the hard drive; Low battery life

If you’re looking to sink almost $1,000USD into a device that can run productivity software and Windows programs, why not get an ultrabook? Despite the many things going for the Microsoft Surface Pro, it doesn’t really excel at being either a tablet or...

Microsoft Surface Pro vs Apple iPad 4

The Surface Pro might actually be the one to start that avalanche of momentum that Microsoft needs to break through the surface in this competitive market that's still firmly held together by Apple's pride and joy...

Now this is a tough pickle on our hands, seeing that there’s an obvious gap in terms of pricing with the two tablets. At the very least, the iPad 4 can be bought for $500, which is significantly easier on the pockets over the $900 cost of the Microsoft...

Microsoft Surface Pro Review

For those who waited out the storm, the timing is finally over, as the highly equipped Microsoft Surface Pro is hitting the scene with its full Windows 8 experience. No folks, this isn't merely a Surface with Windows 8 slapped on, but rather, there's...

Full Windows 8 Pro experience ; Vibrant and sharp looking display ; Distinctive and solid design ; Useful pressure sensitive stylus ; Peppy performance

Terrible camera ; Battery life is less than other tablets ; Not enough apps make use of the stylus

It's been several months after the release of the Surface RT, and it's unknown how well Microsoft's slate was able to penetrate the market, since the Redmond based company hasn't been vocal about actual sales numbers. Regardless, it was something that...
