Review Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500T1C Convertible

Wintablet. Tablet + keyboard dock = too little for an innovation? We are testing Intel's tablet platform based on new hardware for the first time. Can the new Atom processor keep pace with a genuine 32 bit Windows 8? ...

Good input devices keyboard dock ; Many interfaces, also via dock ; Long battery life even with dock ; Silent operation ; Low waste heat ; Bright screen ; Good contrast

Not much power for Windows users ; No gaming power ; Annoying brightness sensor ; Loud touchpad buttons ; Slow and too small flash memory

The courage to install a standard Windows 8 (32 bit) on tablet hardware. However, this combination will not provide a satisfactory work speed in the long run

Samsung ATIV Smart PC Review

When a mobile carrier like AT&T picks up a device for sale that's as massive as the Samsung ATIV Smart PC with Windows 8, you've got to wonder who would be heading out to the same location they picked up their smartphone to pick up a PC. In this case...

Of course the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 isn’t quite as “powerful” as the ATIV Smart PC, and you’ll have no Samsung-made standard keyboard to clip into, but you’ve got the pen that was promised as well as support from the super-diverse Google Play app...

Samsung XE500T1C Tablet Review

With the release of their Windows 8 operating system, Microsoft's aim was to start blurring the line between the experience of the user when using a tablet, phone or traditional desktop/laptop computing environment. Although a few different versions...

Great design; very thin and easily portable ; Convertable (tablet + laptop) ; Great feeling keyboard (fast to type on and very comfortable) ; 64gb of solid state storage is fast (and a MicroSDXD slot allows for easy expansion) ; Long battery life

Why can't the Canadian version also have the S Pen stylus like the American one ; The Atom processor won't be for everyone as it doesn't have the performance that a comparably priced full size laptop would ; View the discussion thread.blog comments...

Having little past experience with convertible tablets like the XE500T1C, I can honestly say that I found it far more useful than I would have expected. As a tablet, the XE500T1C is quite large with it’s 11.6” screen, but that made it all the more...

Samsung ATIV Smart PC Review

Tablets with the frugal Intel Atom processor are supposed to bring you the best of all worlds – a full Windows 8 operating system, but in a slim and light slate that will last as long as an ARM-based machine. These should be the main selling points of...

Battery life comparable to an ARM-based tablet ; USB port and software drivers allow hooking up any peripheral ; S Pen functionality

Expensive ; Intel Atom processor is only for light Windows programs ; No extra battery in the keyboard dock

Jack of all trades or a master of none? The Samsung ATIV Smart PC, as other Intel Atom-based tablets with Windows 8 sound great on paper – thin and light, they are capable to run legacy Windows programs, and have battery life comparable with iOS or...

Samsung's ATIV Smart PC 500T: An Atom-Based Windows 8 Tablet

Samsung takes Intel's Atom Z2760 SoC, the full version of Windows 8, and builds a tablet that begs to stay connected to its docking station. Is this the combination of freedom, performance, and battery life we've been waiting for, or are we left wanting?

Great device with one huge flaw

Contacted Samsung support, they told me hibernate was not an option. Basically, keep it plugged in or shut it off.

Not buggy, doesn't disconnect from dock, doesn't lock up. It has been exceptionally stable. The battery life (while in use) is phenomenal, and I like the S-Pen functionality. It's heavier than an iPad but I came from a Dell Inspiron so it feels pretty...

Ok, I'm only going to mention one con - But I'm about to sell this thing to some unsuspecting victim because of it. It looses about 3-5% per hour in connected standby. If I leave it for a day it's nearly dead next time I use it. I reboot my Dell...

Not a fan

It comes with a detachable keyboard. Has a descent camera, is pretty sturdy and has a great digital pen

It freezes up a lot making it so that you have to reboot it often. It is pretty heavy even without the keyboard. There is nothing that would make me choose this perticular one over another brand

Decent tablet - forget the keyboard

I bought a Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500T1C-A04US that came with the detachable keyboard. The tablet its self is a nice unit ... but as soon as I snap it in to the keyboard I want to scream. It rocks in the keyboard mount and keeps connecting and...

Great computer!

Bought this computer a month ago for my wife and it has been great! It took a little learning to get used to Windows 8, but in the end I like it. Display is really nice, battery last a long time, and the attachable keyboard is a really nice plus. I...
