Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 review: Flying first class

Lightweight, agile and simply affordable, seven-inchers did, at one point, seem capable of pushing ten-inch Android tablets out of business. Even Samsung, with its device-for-every-taste approach had to admit defeat. The Koreans all but threw in the...

10.1" 16M-color Super Clear PLS capacitive touchscreen of 2560 x 1600 px resolution ; Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7, Mali-T628MP6 GPU; Exynos 5420 chipset ; 3GB of RAM ; Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz UX UI ; S...

No NFC ; No DivX and AC3 codec support ; Air view works with S-Pen only, no thumb support ; Notification area not optimized for the large screen

After the disappointing first generation, for reasons varying from screen resolution to failing to launch on time, the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition comes to show that Samsung is a good learner. Four times the screen resolution and 299ppi are only part...

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) review

Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is a solid Android productivity tablet with improved S Pen, screen, and specs. But its $550+ price and occasional performance glitches will steer many away.

The Note 10.1 2014 Edition is a solid improvement on last year’s model, with a class-leading screen, oodles of RAM, powerful internals, and an updated shell that sets it apart as a more serious device. On paper, it’s the most powerful mobile-class...

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 review (2014 edition)

If you want your product to sound like it belongs in the future, why not name it after the future itself? Taking a page from the auto industry, Samsung

Beautiful high-res display ; Thinner, lighter and easier to handle ; Incredible audio performance ; S Pen functionality

Unusually sluggish performance ; Battery life isn't as long as expected

The 2014 Note 10.1 looks fantastic and has the best specs of any Android tablet out there, but we grew frustrated by its choppy performance.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)

This year's Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet picks up exactly where last year's model left off, making key upgrades to the display and internals while improving its core stylus and multitasking features, but it's still not perfect.

Excellent multitasking. Sharp, vibrant display. Pressure sensitive stylus with useful software integration. IR remote.

Buggy at times. Expensive.

Pen Window is Samsung's secondary multitasking feature, which supplements the improved multi window feature. Multi window is still here, but now you can drag the divider to resize the left and right windows. You can also save pairs of apps you like to...

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) review

Editors' note: This review currently reflects performance for the global model of the 2014 Note 10.1, with its 1.9GHz eight-core processor. It will be updated with results from the US quad-core version when that unit arrives.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) has Android 4.3, impressive processing muscle, two fully loaded cameras, and a light, portable build. Improved S Pen features boost the tablet's productivity potential.

The faux leather back cover looks chintzy, and handwriting recognition is still imperfect.

The improved S Pen goes a long way to making this high-end tablet worth the extra cost, but if you're not sold on the stylus, it's easy to find a better deal.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 review (2014 Edition)

When I was in high school, I fantasized about leaving my numerous spiral bound notebooks behind in favor of a handheld digital drawing board. That technology didn't arrive in the form of the iPad...

Useful handwriting recognition ; Beautiful high-resolution display

Sluggish performance ; High price ; For a pen-enabled tablet, it's not geared toward pen users

Samsung improved almost everything, but forgot the most important part — performance

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition

The original Galaxy Note 10.1 was designed to be the first true Android content creation tablet, but its low-resolution display and somewhat confusing pen software kept it from being a top pick. Now Samsung is back with the Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition...

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Review

Ever since the arrival of the Nexus 10, it's been hard recommending other, lower resolution 10-inch Android tablets. Although not the knock out success that the Nexus 7 became, the Nexus 10 did offer a good alternative to the iPad at a lower price....

At the end of the day, the new Note’s pricing paints it into a niche just like the rest of the big Note lineup. If you love the S Pen experience and want it on some of the best 10-inch tablet hardware available, the new Note 10.1 is perfect. It's...

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition Review

Thanks to enhanced pen features, a beautiful Retina display and Samsung's war chest of features, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition is a very good Android tablet for both creating and consuming content.

Sleek, elegant design; Very sharp and bright display; Improved multitasking functionality; Compelling pen enhancements

Expensive; Occasional lag; Mediocre camera; Shorter battery life than top tablets

Thanks to enhanced pen features, a beautiful Retina display and Samsung's war chest of features, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition is a very good Android tablet for both creating and consuming content.

Review Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Tablet

Update Craze. Samsung has been bringing "updated" devices to the market as often as possible. The new Galaxy Note 10.1 from 2012 is now succeeded by the "Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition". The hardware is the latest on the market but can it, and the...

Display resolution; Extreme performance; LTE module; Good battery life; Option to increase storage; Nice brightness; S-Pen

Price; Slightly high black value

The display resolution is huge and despite this the performance is sufficient to run all games and FHD material fluidly.
