Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 review: A great alternative to the iPad mini

With the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5, Samsung has pushed limits with the super-sharp display and ultra thin body. Both tablets come with the best hardware we've seen on a tablet and, unsurprisingly, are steeply priced. It's a bold move considering the...

After several attempts at dethroning the iPad, looks like Samsung has finally got it right with the Galaxy Tab S. With an excellent display, powerful processing and great speaker quality, there’s little going against the Galaxy Tab S. It might not...

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Review

With the launch of the Tablet S 8.4 and 10.5 models, Samsung is fighting for the high-end tablet market. With an ultra-slim and ultra-light design, along with a formidable high-DPI Super-AMOLED display, it looks like a very strong contender for user...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S ( 8.4-inch, 32gb, bronze)

The Galaxy S5 may be Samsung's darling child, packing in everything a top-end phone should, but if its 5-inch screen just doesn't cut it for your sofa surfing, turn your attention to the Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is extremely slim, has a gorgeous, super-high-definition display, tonnes of power, and the latest version of Android KitKat on board.

It's packed full of so much bundled software from Samsung and third parties that it will likely be confusing for first-time Android users.

With its slim design, fantastic screen, and oodles of power, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a superb smaller tablet, and a worthy competitor to the ever-popular iPad Mini.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 review

Samsung has released a true iPad Mini competitor with the Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The Super AMOLED display, high-end specs, and consistent design make it…

Gorgeous Super AMOLED screen ; Thinner and lighter than the iPad Mini ; Easy to hold with one hand ; MicroSD card support

Occasional app launch delays ; Not dust/water-resistant like the GS5 ; Fingerprint scanner isn’t that useful

Samsung launched so many tablets in 2014 that it’s impossible to keep track of them all. So far, only a few have stood out from the pack; the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is one of them.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has supremely elegant hardware, but its competition is fierce.

Slim and light. Fast. Great battery life. Incredible screen

GPU and Wi-Fi performance could be a little better. Other platforms still lead on great tablet apps

The Samsung Galaxy S5 was a significant step past the S4, but the step was subtle: It was in the screen and the software. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 ($399, 16GB) pours the S5 equation into the best Android media tablet we've seen so far. It's slim,...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Combining the sharpest display on a tablet yet with an attractive design and powerful software, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is worth its premium price.

Eye-popping display; Attractive design; Immersive versatile Kids Mode; Quality touch keyboard

Many apps not optimized for high-res display; Expensive; Mediocre Camera

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 provides a truly high-end experience with the sharpest, most colorful screen on any slate today. However, with so many Android apps not optimized for high-resolution displays, you often won't see the benefit like you would on the...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Review

Sammy is going back to its roots by blessing the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with a drool worthy looking Super AMOLED display. Naturally, it's been a while since we've seen something graced with this particular display technology, but will it be enough to entice...

Stunning looking Super AMOLED display ; Thin and light construction ; SideSync 3.0 offers phone functionality through the tablet ; Near perfect color reproduction with the “basic” display mode

SideSync 3.0 supported is limited to a few Galaxy smartphones ; Performance dips with processor intensive operations ; Uninspiring plastic design

Variety is a good thing, right? We absolutely agree with that notion, as the consumer is the one to be greatly impacted by all of it in the end. However, it’s just that sometimes the focus gets mixed up and changed as a new product is introduced. Well...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a remarkable handheld device that offers the smoothest Android KitKat experience with brilliant super AMOLED display

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 review

It seems that not a month goes by without a new Samsung tablet surfacing. It's made the market so busy with options that, frankly, it's got downright confusing. So let's cut to the skinny: the Tab S, seen here in its 8.4-inch version, is one of the...

Bright and resolute display, lots of power, plenty of useful software tweaks, slim design

Oversaturated colours, cheap-looking plastic rear, software can be over the top
