The Toshiba AT300 offers quad-core action at an affordable price tag but lacks the 'wow' factor of top-end tablets like the Google Nexus 7

Quad core power ; Native Android ; Full size SD card reader

Reflective display ; Poor camera quality ; Chunky connector

The Toshiba AT300 isn't going to cause anyone's jaw to drop in terms of looks – it's only once you get this quad-core monster fired up that you'll appreciate its inner beauty.

Can Toshiba's new 10.1-inch tablet brighten our day?

Great price ; Native Android ; Quad-core power ; Slim chassis

Poor camera ; Average display ; Chunky connector ; No Android Jelly Bean

It's impossible not to start with the price, because it's most likely the thing that will have the greatest draw on your tablet-focused attention.

Toshiba Tablet AT300 review: An improvement on previous efforts, but a little overpriced

Thin and light design ; Full sized SD card slot ; Decent battery life

Questionable build quality ; Average display ; Mediocre camera

The Toshiba Tablet AT300 is a definite improvement over the company's previous Android devices, particularly thanks to a thin and light design. However, compared to rival tablets the AT300 is slightly overpriced given that it offers little that sets it...

We were impressed with the thinness of the AT200 that we reviewed recently, but the AT300 can't match its sibling's 7.7mm chassis. However, at 8.9mm thick, the AT300 is hardly chubby. It feels solid and well-balanced in the hands, and we like its...

Considering you can find the AT300 online for around £310, it's good value. The ability to increase storage or simply view your photos via full-size SD card is nice, and performance is good. The screen isn't the best we've seen, although it's far from...

A better screen would be nice, but this ICS powerhouse offers great all-round value

Toshiba AT300 review – specsThe Toshiba AT300 isn't quite as cheap as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but unlike other budget tablets it offers quad-core processing power thanks to its Nvidia Tegra 3

Toshiba AT300 review

The Toshiba AT300 provides a better design and more powerful processor than its predecessor and it costs less than the iPad. However, Google's Nexus 7 offers the same punch for a lot less money, if you can handle a smaller screen.

Sleek design ; Powerful quad-core processor ; Bright and clear screen

Display is not as high resolution as the iPad ; Google Nexus 7 offers equal power for a much lower price

The Toshiba AT300 improves on the AT200 with a better design, more potent processor and a newer version of Android. It's cheaper than the iPad, so if you're after an Android slate and don't want to compromise on power, this is a good option.
