Review Toshiba Folio 100 Tablet

An iPad alternative? With features like Nvidia Tegra 250, 10" dis

USB 2.0 + mini USB; HDMI, webcam; Card reader; Docking port; Light display; Android 2.2; Silent operation; Very low case temperature; Good battery life

No access to Google's Android Market; Limited app availability; Average case quality; Angle-dependent and weakly-contrasting display; Touchy sensor keys; Sluggish W-LAN connection; Relatively large and heavy; External memory must be formatted in FAT32;...

In the Android branch there are the Archos 101, Dell Streak and Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Apple iPad uses Apple iOs, and is still unchallenged in terms of quality, performance and unsability. However, it can't offer USB, card reader, HDMI or webcam.

Toshiba Folio 100 Review

We have aroused interest in Toshiba Folio 100 with a dual core chipset NVIDIA Tegra 2 and T250 processor. It is amazing that such powerful configuration has been housed in Toshiba AS100.  Toshiba Folio AS100 sports 10.1-inch four-point touch screen...

When comes to heat, after running the Toshiba AS100 for 3 hours, the highest temperature was only 34 degrees. Play video 30 minutes later; there is no significant change of the highest temperature. Therefore, Nvidia Tegra chip does well in power control.

First Look: Toshiba Folio 100 review

Before we start, it must be said that the current build of the Toshiba Folio 100's firmware is far from complete. Indeed, the slightest deviation from the basic apps and functions causes the pre-production model to fall over faster than an amateur...

The 16:9 10.1-inch screen makes for perfect movie video playback and a smorgasbord of connectivity sets it apart from many rivals, including that Apple thingmy

The operating system on the demonstration device was woefully unfinished, so many apps and features wouldn't work, it's also aesthetically functional rather than flouncy

Without seeing the finished product, there's still enough to be excited about. Not least, the tablet's socketry, multimedia capabilities and, of course, price of £329

Toshiba Folio 100 review

We were pretty pleased with the first Android Tablet we saw, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, so we were excited to see what Toshiba could do with the open source operating system.

The hardware's promising, but there are simply too many niggles to make this tablet worth buying.

Toshiba Folio 100 hands-on test

The Toshiba Folio 100 looks set to present consumers with a familiar choice: Apple elegance or Android openness?

Vast range of Android apps available ; Webcam for video calling ; Plays Flash and 1080p videos ; Uses SD cards to boost internal storage

No 3G connectivity yet ; Android apps don't currently support larger screen sizes

Toshiba has added its own front end to the Android operating system. The built-in accelerometer turns the display to landscape orientation when you turn the tablet on its side, with the option to lock the display in place when, say, you're watching a...

OR you can spend a little more an just get the iPad. It will at least give you piece of mind and once you really get into using it, there is no going back, it is simply awesome.

Maybe flash player, if it was pre-installed

I have returned my Folio to PC world. It appears there is a fault with these tablets. Mine had a problem with the menu button which had a mind of it's own. PC World had been notified of a fault so took it back with no problem. Also it did not have...
