Toasts unevenly, not deep enough to toast a standard slice of bread - leaves the top inch untoasted

Purchased this toaster, as had previously had a De'Longhi toaster for approximately 9 years. REALLY pleased with this new one. Love the look, & performance is even better than my old one. Easy to keep clean & as it states, doesn't show finger marks....
