Rega P3-24 review

Several new refinements to a turntable steeped in tradition

Beautifully made yet inexpensive ; Fine voice-band expression ; Substantial upgrade path

Lacking precision in resolution and imaging at the top and bottom of the range

This great starter turntable demonstrates why vinyl continues to thrive, with its fine musical-communication skills. Its basic sound is competent enough, if a little vague, and can be greatly improved by the addition of the outboard power supply

Rega P3-24

Few hi-fi components have lived longer or exerted greater influence than Rega's Planar 3 turntable. Its absolute simplicity helped inspire the 'back to basics' movement that rejected the complexities of much imported hi-fi

Rega P3

The P3 has been in production for over twenty years and remains the benchmark by which budget turntables are judged the world over. It has not been resting on its laurels however as Rega has recently updated the high quality synchronous motor with...

High build quality, superb tonearm, great musicality

Arm height set for Rega cartridges and requires shims to adjust for others

Rega P3

A couple of issues back I reviewed Rega's P2 turntable, and, in the interim, Rega announced the P2 will cease production. The two events are probably not connected, so this review doesn't signal that demise of the P3. The P3 will now be Rega's...

For these substantive upgrades, the P3 costs a couple of ton more than the P2, but the improvement in sound quality is certainly worth that little extra, and, in light of the relatively small pricing gap, I'd bet eight out of ten buyers opted for the 3...

Rega P3-24

I bought this 'table to replace a dead 27 year old Pioneer PL400, and this is the best table I've ever owned. It came with the Rega Elys2 cart premounted and the sound of that was very good if a little dark. I replaced this with an Audio Technica...
