Philips PFL5405 Series LCD TV (32", 37", 42")

I have read many reviews before buying the Philips 42PFL5405. I read many good and few not so good. The bad comments were about the sound quality. You always get some poor comments about anything you buy but in the case they were justified. I have finally upgraded my TV after putting up with an old LCD ( for 6 years old ) After reading the poor comments about the sound quality, I just though 'well it must be better than what I have' but sadly my old LCD's sound is alot better than this one. On a positive note, using my surround sound instead of the standard volume is the solution. The TV picture is very good and I personally like the TV menu ( looks very good ) and the set up is amazingly simple as it seems to do everything for you stage by stage giving you personal options. In conclusion, the picture and spec is at the top end for the money but it is sadly let down with the sound. Hmmm maybe I will stick with LG in the future... I will see how it goes....Very good HD....

Exactley what it says on the tin, streamlined in black and very pretty on my wall, great functionality, from set up to everyday use, has brilliant features fro those of us who do not have the most technical of minds and is at a great price no one can...

I have always liked philips products this continues my confidence excellent picture easy to install stations

the tv has excellent picture and sound,but could have done with more scart sockets and better instructions.

My old lcd tv packed up so I bought this one.

This TV is 100 Hertz not 50 as in description, no built in Freeview HD, not the darkest of blacks, however good value, hook up to Blu-Ray or any HD device picture very good, easy to set up and operate.

This tv is great, I bought a 32" Sony in the Jan sale, but it wasn't what I wanted, so I sold it and bought this instead. Easy to connect and set up.

I have changed this review a few times since buying the set late 2010. It has performed faultlessly and the picture quality is superb and visitors often comment on it. I think it has now been superceded but if it is still on sale at a reasonable price...
