Any review of this TV is now a moot point for purchasing decisions, as it does not have an ATSC (digital) tuner, so cannot be sold since a year ago. However, one might find this model available from owners who are changing to digital tuner wide-screen...

Not recommended

We purchased this set from Sam's club in 2002. Hardly used until recently. It is broken after only 5 months of active use. Pictures and sound are good. However, I found out it breaks easily, difficult to find parts.

I was looking at this TV, but after reading the reviews here, there is no way that I'm paying all that money for a TV that I have to drill holes in. Anyone that drills holes in a new TV must have a hole in their head.

At this time I'm sure Akai has come out with a new model with good reason. The lack of connections on the back of the set makes this one a poor chose unless you are moving up from a old black and white set and the only thing your hooking up is a VCR....
