Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 7-40

After reviewing a parade of look-alike HDTVs, we ached to find a stylish departure from the norm. The BeoVision 7-40 soothes that pain with a unmatched combination of design and performance.

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 7-40 review

Would you pay ten grand for a telly? Of course you wouldn't, but ask someone at Bang & Olufsen what brands they're up against and they're more likely to utter Jaguar, Swaroski and Rolex than Samsung, LG or Sony.

Clean images from all sources, built-in surround sound decoder, integrated 3D Blu-ray, sound quality

Small size doesn't suit 3D, no interactive Freeview pages, huge price

Costs a bomb, but the concentration on both design and quality makes this all-in-one AV wonder that while not exactly worth the money does at least represent something unique in the TV market.

B&O BeoVision 7-40 40in LCD TV

If Armani made televisions, they'd look like this.

If you’ve studied the pictures of the BeoVision 7-40 closely, you may have noticed a sexy little bulge under the centre of the screen. This isn’t just there for aesthetic reasons. For if you run your fingers underneath it a rather amazing thing...

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 7

An LCD television aimed at audiophiles, BeoVision 7 integrates Bang & Olfusen's BeoLab 7 loudspeakers to make it surely one of the best sounding TVs on the market.

Depending on what stand you choose, this television will set you back between AU$15,495 and AU$15,995, which is a big ask for a 32-inch screen, but price has never been a deterrent to those hungry for Bang & Olufsen style and quality.

B&O BeoVision 7-55

Astonishing picture quality; Low response time and smooth image; Out-of-box settings; Almost perfect blacks; Integrated Blu-Ray / DVD; Materials and build quality

Minor halos from local dimming; Not perfect viewing angles; Too high colour temperature; Price; Slow start-up time on Blu-Ray; No DTS HD MA support

B&O BeoVision 7

The B&O BeoVision 7 is a 40-inch Full HD (1920x1080p) LCD television with built-in Blu-ray Profile 2.0 player. There's support for surround formats up to Dolby 7.1 EX and DTS ES 6.1 and Neo:6.

Most new tellies have 120Hz frame doubling, surround sound and video tweaks, but only Bang and Olufsen products transform your living room into a 1970s shag-pad. Is it the motorised stand that deploys cheekily into viewing mode? The ability to link the...

While there’s nothing really bad about an item as assured as the BeoVision, don’t expect its luscious but ageing 40-in panel to be as richly contrasted or brightly coloured as cutting plasmas and LED-backlit LCDs. Gadget freaks might also be...

You’re a James Bond villain, a Bentley dealership owner or at the very least an arrogant neurosurgeon. Whatever we say about the BeoVision 7, your position in life demands a B&O-packed living room. As it happens, the BeoVision 7 is actually a fine bit...
