Pioneer PDP-428XD / 508XD

Equivalent to the PDP-LX508D, but in HD Ready and 42 inches (107 cm), this plasma displays the same qualities: deep black colors, nice colors, and a fluid image. Superb!

Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX508D

Up until now, this is the nicest image we've seen on a TV. Deep blacks, nice colors and a fluid image ' only the finest quality.

Up until now, this is the best image we have seen on a TV. Deep blacks, nice colors and a fluid image ? only the best qualities.

Sharp LC-X20E Series TV (32".37",42",46",52")

Its HD display qualities, contrast and nice size make it an excellent choice for a Full HD TV. The image in SD (TV and DVDs) lacks a bit of sharpness.

Pioneer Kuro PDP-508XD

Equivalent to the PDP-LX508D, but in its HD Ready version, this plasma displays the same fine qualities: deep blacks, nice colors and fluid images. We loved it!

Panasonic TX-37LZD70

An additional HDMI input would have given this product 5 stars. Either way this television is very good and offers beautiful images. It's a 4 star TV but closer to 5 than 3!

- Excellent rescaling of SD sources, - Good viewing angles

- Slight lack of contrast, - 2 HDMI

Sharp LC-X20E Series TV (32".37",42",46",52")

This model left a mixed impression. In a larger size it definitely deserves 4 stars, but the 32 inch version is of little interest.

- Nice deep black color, - Good contrast, - Optical audio digital output, - 3 HDMI

- Little interest in Full HD 1080p at 32 inches, - Some color artifacts that persist when screen turns black, - Rescaled SD sources lack a bit of sharpness

Samsung LE-S86 Series LCD TV (26",32",40",46")

Samsung LE26S86BD

By Vincent Lheur

In the end, the LE26S86BD produces a very nice image though a bit too soft and with mediocre colors. Luckily, not all eyes are sensitive to this last defect and in this case given the small price, it's a good deal.

- Pivoting base, - Efficient SD rescaling, - Good contrast

- Poor colors, - Image lacks sharpness, - Poor default settings, - Significant reframing of SD sources

Philips PFL7562 Series LCD TV (32",37",42")

For those who are looking for a TV under the 1000 ? mark to watch digital cable, satellite TV, DVDs or even HD DVDs and Blu-Ray, this 32'' is a good compromise with a very clean image. If you plan on regularly using your PC with a TV, look to other ...

- Images have very little noise in HD and SD, - Good rescaling, - The mass of functions can add real improvements in many cases

- Colors could be better, - Lower contrast than the competition, - Overscan with connection to a PC, - OSD takes some time and effort to understand, - Connectivity could have been better with an added VGA, for example

Samsung LE-S86 Series LCD TV (26",32",40",46")

In the end, this LE32S86BD delivers a very nice image despite soft rendering and poor color fidelity. Luckily, all eyes aren't sensitive to this last defect and for under 650 Euros this television is a good deal.

- Pivoting base, - Good SD rescaling, - Good contrast, - Numerous options for adjusting image parameters

- Poor colors, - Image lacks sharpness, - Mediocre presettings, - Significant overscan with SD sources
