I really don't know why the people above expect a Tivo from anything but a Tivo. I got rid of my Tivo because of feature bloat and the ever increasing price. Is Tivo better? Heck Yah it is. Is it worth the money? No, especially considering I put one of...

Massive amount of space. Easier to learn then most cable DVR's. Records two channels at once.

Interface certainly not as intuitive as a Tivo. No big extra features to write home about.

Directv DVR +

 

Buy the unit from Newegg instead of Directv. Contract states I only lease it after reading fine print.(I do not own it after paying $99)

Very colorful programs and instant rewind capabilities.

DVR software is not intuitive and I find it hard to use unlike my Directv Ultimate TV. It is a Tivo poseur.
