Sharp images, well balanced colours, good motion handling
Blacks could use improvement, a little image noise, a small screen can't take full advantage of 1080p
Panasonic's Viera TX-32LZD800A is a solid unit for users looking for a smaller display. It offers good image quality with a few niggling issues, and it has some nifty features like 100Hz playback, making it a relatively appealing package.

Incredible blacks comparable to the best plasmas, fantastic colours, sharp image, handles motion well, lots of bonus features
Minor aliasing on text, a little detail lost in some dark areas
Samsung's Series 9 LA46A950 is the best LCD TV on the market. While not perfect, its flaws are negligible and it offers an incredible combination of deep blacks, rich colours, sharp images and great motion, along with a host of bonus features, making ...

Great 200Hz motion mode, excellent contrast and blacks, DLNA certified, good SD performance for a 1080p screen
Some annoying judder when not running Motion Flow, default Cinema setting may be too soft for some
Sony's Bravia KDL40Z4500 is a fantastic Full HD TV. It's Australia's first 200Hz television and it provides an excellent Motion Flow mode; the real faults we could find with it were a question of personal taste.

Great Full HD image quality, built-in content library, video playback via USB, great design, network connectivity
A little more noise than normal in the image, glossy finish can be distracting
Samsung's LA52A750 is a fantastic upgrade to the previously top-of-the-line Series 6 units. It has the same great image quality but throws in a bunch of new connectivity and streaming features and a built-in content library.

Pretty good colour balance, decent detail in dark areas, low price tag
Extremely grainy and noticeable noise, poor black levels, some motion judder, only two HDMI ports
A basic, entry-level 1080p TV, the Akai L842DDFD will be fine for the undiscerning viewer but its very high noise levels and poor blacks mean that unless you're on a really tight budget there are better choices elsewhere.

Sharp's LC-37D33X is a fairly solid mid-range TV. Its 720p native resolution is fine for both HD and SD viewing, but the image does have some pixelation issues that may irritate some users.
Great colour, excellent detail in dark areas, motion is well handled
Some pixelation detracts from sharpness, blacks lack depth, connectivity is somewhat limited

Cute design, great colour reproduction, good HD playback
Blacks can be cloudy, some lack of detail in dark areas
A strong contender for a place in your kitchen or bedroom, or just as a backup TV, the Sony KDL20S4000 is a 20in 720p panel that offers good image quality for both HD and SD playback. It isn't perfect, but considering the size, price tag and target ...

While the image can be a little noisy at times, the incredible blacks and great contrast ratio, along with the speedy refresh rate, make the Samsung LA40A650 one of the better full HD LCDs on the market.
