The 50-inch plasma has become one of the best values in flat-panel HDTV. Similar-size LCDs typically cost a good deal more at this size, and although that's changing quickly, the typical plasma still enjoys a few other picture quality advantages. ...
Inexpensive ; relatively effective antiglare screen ; three independent picture memories per input ; versatile selection of aspect-ratio modes and power-saving options ; three HDMI inputs
Produces a light shade of black ; relatively soft picture ; inaccurate primary color of green ; bluish color temperature that cannot be adjusted ; introduces false contouring
Although it's inexpensive, Hitachi's P50H401 50-inch plasma produces one of the least impressive pictures we've seen lately.
Hitachi's P50H401 is hardly a typical plasma, however. Yes, the Hitachi...

I've always liked Hitachi's idea of making plasmas with 1080 lines of vertical resolution, even if the horizontal resolution is less than 1920. Such a TV needn't vertically resize a 1080i or 1080p signal, preserving more detail than with 1280x720 or ...

O ne of the major buzzwords around HDTV right now is 1080p (I know, that's a number not a word). Flat panel TVs with 1080p resolution create the most excitement among videophiles, and command the highest prices from electronics dealers. Hitachi has a ...

It makes a great coversation piece until someone asks you to turn it on
Lasted 16 months. Loud pop, no picture or sound, 4 flashing blue lights. $1500 down the drain. Hitachi sucks. From my research it turns out that thousands of people have had the same experience. Time for a class-action suit

Overall, you simply cannot beat the performan...
First of all, the P50 is sleek, it looks like a screen twice it's price. The amount of inputs is very impressive, let alone on a mid priced television. HD input reveals true to life sharpness that will maake you think you are looking out a window
The amount of heat generated by this screen can practically heat a room in the winter. Very low bass at high volume is definitely the audio weakness, but paired with a surround sound system that doesn't really matter
