Insignia NS-PDP42

Serious issues with image burn-in spoil the Insignia NS-PDP42's appeal as an inexpensive plasma HDTV.

Inexpensive; accurate initial color temperature; solid selection of picture adjustments; clean design

Unacceptable incidence of image retention (burn-in); produces a relatively light shade of black; some video noise; softer image with 1080i sources

All of the flat TVs are breaking within or shortly after a year and the tech support and warranty are almost non-existent. I bought mine, 8 months later the power board went out (common problem), so I ordered a replacement part for $60 because there...

flat panel and cheap

durability, tech support are clowns, sound is not very loud, expensive to fix when it breaks

I'm partial to Plasmas and think that my 2 year old Insignia has a great picture, even better than some ot the current 2009 brand name LCDs. As a price buyer, it was a great deal at the time. As of October 2009 you can get a 42" Panasonic for $599 and...

Good price ($799 in 2007), 2 years of great performance, very good plasma picture (better than some of the current LCDs)

It does have some burn in, but to me it's only noticable on light backgrounds and if you're looking for it. Gets a little warm, but power use rating is "fair

Amazing deal!! Great low-end TV especially for $700!!

Most inexpensive 42" HD TV at Best Buy. I thought I was taking them for a ride when I got mine for $700. 42" is big enough to immerse you in the content and small enough that you don't need to spend the extra money on 1080p, 720p works just fine

There is a burn-in problem, although I've found that at first it was rather annoying, after a while (running the anti-burn utilities included) that the burn-in problem stopped. I know that next time I will spend a little more to get the LCD or LED TV

Buy a more recognizable brand that can be service in more than one place, competition will allow you to get a better price for any repairs... and at the end for a few dollars more... may be a TV that will last longer too...

Good Price, good picture while it lasted

Broke in less than two years, and the only place that you can take it to get it fix is Best Buy which if the product is out warranty will charge you an arm and a leg to get it fix
